(Look to see my newest post on this subject at bottom VVV )

I'm thinking of going up for the dual-sport ride in Sept. in Mammoth area.
Looking for camping options.

I've camped at Old Shady .... kinda tight to pull a 30' 5er into , no hookups , kinda woodsy .... no hookups.
Our spot had the camper door into bush on wrong side with a huge area for B.B.Q ing . Reservations needed.

New Shady looks like concrete parking lot with full hookups. Reservations needed.

What are your opinions on other camp grounds and how far from town.
Looking for info like
Are reservations required
Sizes available
Hookups or amenities
Dogs allowed
And type of camping rustic or posh....

I would at least like power hookups so I don't need gen butt I want a woodsy spot a ways away from my neighbor ,

Does anybody have a map that shows camp grounds.

Do a search on Glass Creek on this forum. You'll get a ton of hits.

On edit, I see you want hookups. Mammoth Rv Park is probably your only option then.

We stay at Mammouth ,Mountain RV park, it has full hook-ups (in summer) and is close (in) town. Glass Creek sound awsome, the pics on this board make me want to go by a trail bike.

What's a dual sport ride? I am looking at getting an enduro because of all the riders I see while Lin June Lake, Mammouth, and Coarsgold.

Mike
D-37 DS Ride? We were planning to go but it fell on the wrong day. If you are not, buy the tracks anyway for your GPS from the D-37 web site. They have put together some great rides in the past.

OK well what used to be referred to as an enduro bike is now referred to as a dual sport bike (a street legal dirt bike).

And the AMA has broken the country up into districts. Northern Ca. is D-36 (District 36) , Southern Ca. is D-37 and down towards San Diego is D-38.

The Districts are made up of motorcycle clubs. And they put on most of the Dirt and Street bike racing in the country. And they also host a lot of Dual sport rides.
Which are just organized long trail rides.

Any way I kinda want to stay out of Mammoth , butt near because the ride starts their........

Oh OK Its on 9/08 though 9/09. I may also so not be able to make it those days but am still looking into it.........

More importantly ........ I did not know you could buy the tracks with out going to the event. How would you down load them with out going in person.

I would like to down load a few that I have missed .

Again I was just hoping to get some (Toy hauler type) peoples experience on camp grounds within 50 miles or so of mammoth.
I was looking for a campgrounds that are big enough for a 30' trailer and what kinds of camp ground they are.

Also In Big-Bear , I just do "Dispersed" camping or ( Boon-docking ) in other words......
Are their places to do so in the Mammoth area??

Glass Creek, Deadman's and Hartley Springs campgrounds are all within 10-15 miles to the north of Mammoth. They are all 1st come, 1st serve campgrounds with NO hook-ups. They have picnic tables, a small fire pit and "pit" bathrooms. I know you can get a 30' RV into Glass Creek and Hartley Springs for sure.
