What's a dual sport ride? I am looking at getting an enduro because of all the riders I see while Lin June Lake, Mammouth, and Coarsgold.
OK well what used to be referred to as an enduro bike is now referred to as a dual sport bike (a street legal dirt bike).
And the AMA has broken the country up into districts. Northern Ca. is D-36 (District 36) , Southern Ca. is D-37 and down towards San Diego is D-38.
The Districts are made up of motorcycle clubs. And they put on most of the Dirt and Street bike racing in the country. And they also host a lot of Dual sport rides.
Which are just organized long trail rides.

Any way I kinda want to stay out of Mammoth , butt near because the ride starts their........
Mike, not to be a nay sayer or anything, technically the Mammoth ride is not a district 37 DS ride, it is promoted and put on by Countdown (Jerry Counts) so it is not sanctioned by the district. Don't want to be a stickler but Jerry has gotten sideways with the district on occassion but is overall a great guy and puts on some really fun rides. I've wanted to do the Mammoth ride for a couple of years but find it hard to put together four days as it's kind of hard to do friday night up, ride all day saturday and sunday and drive all the way home on sunday evening. From what I've read Glass Creek for primitive and Mammoth RV park for hookups are your best bet. I've driven through Glass Creek, really pretty with big trees, etc. and used the dump at Mammoth RV, more urban but not like a KOA.
Thats fine I am new to dualsporting and have only done two so far... So I'm not hip to everything.
Butt the mammoth DS ride is listed on the disrticts event calender. www.district37ama.org/dualsport/ridingevents.php .

They have picnic tables, a small fire pit and "pit" bathrooms. I know you can get a 30' RV into Glass Creek and Hartley Springs for sure.
We have nearly a 1000 campsites between the county line on Sherwin Grade and June Lake. They run from rustic with no services to full service. There's a new full hook-up at McGee Creek and 395, Mammoth RV, and others. There's Brown's Town at Crowley Lake, and 100's more at the BLM campground at Crowley Lake, Deadman Creek, Glass Creek, Hartley Springs, Silver Lake, and Pine Creek resort. There are many others. Start in one location and explore the area to find out what you like best.
You can access fishing spots, hot tubs, water falls, and ghost towns from many campsites. You can ride and explore for the next ten years and not have all the possibilities. I've been searching this area for 30 years and still find hidden spots.
Last week I met a group at Tom's Place that departed from there and were doing 5 days to get to Utah. This type of ride is not uncommon from here.
