I am planning a trip to Couer D' Alene, ID and am interested in route suggestions. I was planning I-15 to I-90. MS Streets & Trips says this is 1385 miles. I found the shortest route to be I-15 to highway 95 out of Bishop all the way into Couer D' Alene is 1231 miles. 154 miles less. Has anyone taken the 95 from Bishop to Couer D' Alene? What is this road like? Is it level or hilly? Is it good road? I will be pulling my 27' 5er.

Thanks for the advice

A bit of mountain driving the short way. I took the 90 (I live in Riverside) a couple of months ago. Took me 17hrs to get home, 19 to get there. I'd stick with 90, unless you want "scenery", and you want to drive 2-3 hrs longer.

I used 95 to reach Couer D' Alene from Palmdale. I enjoyed the drive. I left late in the afternoon and spent the first night in Hawthorne by way of Bishop, the 2nd in Jordan Valley, and travelled the last day from Jordan Valley to Couer D’ Alene. The roads were no problem and the scenery was interesting.

95 through Idaho is beautiful. 2 major pulls, White Bird and Lewiston, but should be no trouble with your rig. 2 lane most of the way but a good road.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like the 90 is the way to go.

Sorry for the mis-spelling.

For Mr. Miller, where did you stay in Jordan Valley. We are traveling from Spokane to Lake Tahoe along the MapQuest suggested routing. There seem to be limited camping opportunities. Irene
