Let's see, the question was "What kind of Nascar fan are you?" Is there any other kind besides "Redneck"???????
I actually have been following Nascar for the last 40 years. We used to listen to the races on the radio because they weren't on TV.
I don't have a driver that stands out as a "Favorite". I like most of them. I tend to root for Stewart, Earnhart, and Johnson if they are in the chase. I'm probably the oddball here for not having any one particular favorite. I just enjoy the sport in general. I went to the Brickyard a few years ago and had a blast. I hope to get to Daytona next year. Maybe tie that into a family vacation.
Happy Camping!!!

Now.....bring me that horizon.

old time NASCAR watcher here since they first went on the TV. Don't care much for the new gen fans and there different attitude toward the other drivers or there driver is the best. If they didn't win and get a interview they whine type comments. Sounds like high school talk. I also don't care much for the COT [clones]. Their getting away from racing roots with the old American sedan [big car/big engine]/new car development and inovation and let the drivers take care of their own.
I don't have a favorite driver but do enjoy good hard clean fender rubbin' racin' just as NASCAR short track racin' is. NASCAR had their bad boy drivers back then but other drivers handed out attitude adjustments and that driver came around or didn't last long. Now we have the Stewert types that put whoever they want in the wall, pay a fine and do it again later.

Most of you old-timers that hate the new NASCAR might want to take into account that many of us that like the NASCAR of today were not alive back in the "best" times. As I have discovered NASCAR only in the last 5 years, all I know of it is what there is today. While not a convert to the COT yet, I still like the pagentry, thrills, spills and adventure that is NASCAR today. I have yet to attend a race as we live in an area that is NASCAR deprived: ie the Northwest US, we are planning on attending a few races in the coming years. Yes, it is expensive to go, but isn't NBA, MLB and any other "professional" sport?? As to the appropriateness of NASCAR as a family event, I like what I hear about some tracks having family friendly camping areas, viewing areas, etc.. There is just as much foul language, drinking and flashing (Not that I don't mind! )at other sports events as at NASCAR (think Boston Red Sox games!) My point is, when you rip on the NASCAR of today, please keep in mind that some of us only know that kind of NASCAR.
As for Tony Stewart, he is exactly that, a punk. But I do agree with others that he provides good entertainment by speaking his mind. Every sport has one of those and needs one for entertainment purposes.

I grew up watching "stock car" racing. I miss that. Today NASCAR is like dumping a bunch of Skittles in the toilet, pushing the handle, and watching them go 'round and 'round. I think the real racing is at the local level.

Proudly fly our #20 Tony Stewart flag along with others when we feel like changing them. All other racing related items associated with our toy hauler would be some neat vinyl sprint car and midget decals on each side, a "I'd rather be sprint car racing" license plate holder, a USAC decal on the ramp and a nice sized #9 decal which represents one of my racing numbers. Although our trailer has yet to be to a Nascar event it does however spend lots and lots of time at sprint car, midget and kart races.

The last four words of the star spangled banner are "gentlemen start your engines". The proper order of priorities:
1)Jeff Gordon
2)hendrick victory
3)The 20 hangin' on the wall with a DNF

My point exactly. Newer fans just don't know any better. They have never seen a real race. Never seen the field come by at 212 mph, Never seen a car draft by another, without it being pushed. Never seen a car that "looks" exactly like theirs on the track. No huge spoliers, no air dams, Never seen a driver make a stop under green and not lose a lap. Never seen a driver make up, 2 laps under green. Never seen the drivers "settle" it on the backstreatch grass.
Just don't know what you are missing. Well missed.
AS for B France and the way he runs HIS big business. It don't take a smart man to "inherit" a gold mine.

There is NOTHING wrong with NASCAR now. The only problem in it today is there are drivers named other than EARNHART. That is the problem. Jr, it appears, has more class than 90% of the drivers today. Remember Bristol years back when he could have dumped the winner and won? Should he have? I would have. But in order to keep nascart happy, he laid off. Gordon did, see what it got him? Shut down the tracks over one mile and lets get back to racing and fighting.
