I am looking at this truck as part of a package including a 2007 Carriage Cameo. The total weight of the trailer is around 14,000 loaded. The truck has a factory tow package with a 410 rear end. Are there more than one kind of tow package? If yes what one do I need? Any other advice would be appricated. Thanks Dick

You should be fine with that setup. There are more towing options for the 2006 F-350 that include the Tow Boss with a 4.30 rear axle ratio that gives an extra 3,000 lbs GCWR (26,000) and increased GVW (13,000) and increased towing capacity (between 18,100 an 19,200 depending on Crew or single, 4x2 or 4x4 etc.)

I have the truck in my signature and I believe you will have no problem at all towing that trailer. I have the 4.10 rear end and am happy with it. I had a 3.73 in my Excursion and I think the 4.10 is a nice compromise between the 3.73 and the 4.30(tow boss). It gives me reasonable highway speeds where my RPMS are not through the roof, yet deacent accelleration from a stop.

I agree, you will have no problem with that package. I pretty much have the same rig except mine's a 4X4 and I've towed the same weight (and more at times) all over the country with no issues. The 4.10's provide plenty of torque and are a little more economical than the Tow Boss. My truck is also my dailly driver so every little bit helps. I get 11 mpg towing and 14-15 mpg running solo, not great but not terrible either. Go for it.

Not a ford basher, I own one and had a 6.0psd and great looking trucks, but wouldnt touch another with a ten foot pole..... check dieselstop.com and google the 6.0psd and see what you get..... of coarse there are some good ones..... after I got rid of mine I was giving a guy at work heck and he is diehard ford, well with 22k miles his 05 is finally acting up..... I know about a half a dozen people and they all have had them in the shop....

You want a used ford, get the 03 with the 7.3, they are out there... or get the new style with the 6.4psd......

Love all the ford experts out there that know all about the 6.0 PSD. My 2006 F350 with over 40,000 miles has never been back to the dealer for anything. My 99 F250 had over 150,000 with 0 problems. My best buddy has a 2006 Duramax that he can't keep out of the shop, I don't think this make all Duramax trucks bad. If you go to the duramax or cummings forumns then you would most likely be afriad to buy one of them either. I have found that people don.t usually write to forumns if they are not having problems with their trucks. If you look at all the Ford PSD on the road, I think you will find the number of the one having problems small. There were some problems with the 2003-2005 PSD but the 06-07 has been a very good trucks.

You can see what I have in my signature. It's also my daily driver and have just over 35K miles. The only real problem I have is keeping the silly grin off my face when I drive. I browse the diesel forums and have read some really interesting things, but Ford, in no way, shape or form, has a monopoly on problems, just seem we are the vocal majority. One of the problems that has hurt the 6L is that Ford has from the get-go jacked up the hp/torque thru their own programming almost to the limit of the engine (HP/Torque is almost double what International advertises for the same exact engine in their own trucks.)

Gotta remember, most folks that post on the diesel forums are those with problems. How often do you see the thread "Dxmn, my truck is A#1 super"? Very seldom? The reason is, why pitch a fit when you don't have a problem. The majority of 6L problems are with the '03 and '04 models. '05 got a bit better, and by '06 most were already worked out.

Trucks for the most part are just like our RV's. Find what you like and go for it. You can ask for opinions, but that is exactly what you get - someone's opinion.

Guess you can tell I'm extremely happy with my truck.

Another blinded person.....YA, I forgot its a secret we all dont know.... everytime I see a friend i ask him how his is doing...oh fine..fine... last night he asked me about the problems of these trucks..his just started acting up.... I KNOW AT LEAST A HALF A DOZEN PEOPLE WITH THE 6.0 AND EVENTUALLY ALL OF THEM HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP....I also know several neighbors who work for the copper mine nad the 6.0s they say are junk.... fire depts have had problems with their 6.0 ambulances..

FORD WILL ADMIT IT, THE EXPERTS IN THE DIESEL COMMUNITY KNOWS IT.... YES ALL MAKES HAVE PROBLEMS, BUT PERCENTAGE TO PERCENTAGE, NONE HAVE AS MANY AS THE 6.0PSD ITS PLAIN AND SIMPLE FACTS.......

YOUR 99 WITH THE 7.3 150K MILES IS NOTHING THAT MOTOR WILL CONTINUE TO GO AND GO.......

people who dont beleive, just remember this..... Search the net , talk around, the info is there for one to find....

I dont mean to offend anyone , I dont get mad if someone talks about my truck.. they are hunks of metal... Your friend probably has a LLY duramax, I wouldnt touch one of them either with a ten foot pole...or an earlier D-max with the injector issue. The LBZ in the later 06 and 07 are the best proven ones yet... I liked my super duty as a "truck" better, but the fords motor doesnt even come close to the level of a d-max....although the rate of problems with cummins/D-max as a percentage is no where near the level of the 6.0psd, and I only have 7k miles on it but if it gives me problems I will be on here saying it to..Sorry some people cant handle the truth and get thier feelings hurt....... Research it..
