I have an 07 F350 6.0 Ford Dually and really like it with no issues at all. The only difference between my Ford and the Chevy's, is my truck looks better, has more towing capacity and rides great. The Chevy's are OK for small fiver's but when you have to have something in the gross market of 26,000 lbs you have to step up to a SuperDuty Truck. I realize a small majority did have some issues and lord only knows how they were driven or how the maintenance was kept up. I have a great truck and it really don't bother me if you talk ugly about my Ford Superduty. When it fails or wears out, I will just go buy another Superduty. Good luck and Happy RVing!!!!!!

Well, my DW and I are currently sitting in the Ford dealers parking lot in Silverthrone CO. It is sort of like dry camping at Walmart, but with out the convenience. Coming out of Vail on I70 the engine decided it did not want to work any more. Up to this time, we had been to both coasts and were in the process of retuning from a 3 week trip to Yellowstone. Dealer thinks it is probably the injectors. In any case, it only has 18,000 miles and has been a great truck prior to this incident. By the way, why a five day wait at the dealer's? Because of all the 6.0's ahead of me in the shop. My next tow will be a Volvo or a Freightliner!

We have almost the same setup, only 4:30 rear and 16K trailer. I don't think you'd have any problems.
BTW, our 6.0 has 35K on it and never had a problem. I understand there were some problems when the engine was first introduce in 2003, but they have all been resolved from what I've been able to determine.
Good luck,
Fred

My 99 ford F250 has 95000 miles, while I think its a great truck it just doesn't have the power I had hoped for. I pull a 12000 lb fiver but its just weak. I've thought of chips but afraid of losing the transmission. Any thoughts?

Ive owned one.. know people who own them, and have seen alot on here as well as other sites and various articles and publications and such.... EVER NOTICE THE LIITLE BLURP ON HERE, "HAVING PROBLEMS WITH YOUR 6.O" Yes they are not as bad as the 03/04, but those who say and think that the problems have been resolved are day dreaming or clueless. MOST are claiming 20k, 30, 60 k miles with no problems...COME ON say that at 150k miles... there will be alot of them ones with 20k miles remembering this someday..FORD KNOWS IT< THE EXPERTS IN THE DIESEL COMMUNITY KNOWS IT, just some brand blinded loyalists that it is being kept a secret from...They continue to have a higher rate of problems then the other 2 diesels. not talking numbers but percentages.... I really like the super duty and almost bought a new 06 in november, when I had it for the day, checked it all over and noticed that the bottom of the engine and bell housing were all oily, with 88 or so miles on it.... I have had GMS before for s..t and grins thought I would try a D-max, yes I liked my ford truck better, but it just cant compare or come to the level of a duramax/allison.... Look at the poster a few back on this same one with their 6.0 at the dealer with a bunch in front of them for work..

And I dont mean to bash, but just want to let people know about these motors, I STILL remember the little story I read about the RETIRED couple that spent their life savings on a new ford 6.0PSD and 5ER, to find out they whould have nothing but trouble with their ford... The lady said her husband always owned fords and didnt want to even look at anything else, and they were fighting to get a buy back........ I too bought a 6.0psd, but before I new about them, I bought it OFF the REPUTATION of the 7.3 which I would OWN ANYDAY!!!

Good motor, you can do some upgrades to it to really boast the power ALOT... You will also want to get the tranny worked on to handle the new power. 95k miles is nothing and if the truck is paid for ,spend a few bucks and upgrade it...... Go to dieselstop.com and check it out what to do... I would start with a computer program, Exhaust, air intake, turbo down pipe, and see what they say to do to the tranny to beef it up......... The 7.3 can handle it..the brother in law has the f350 and its a beast.....

Love all the ford experts out there that know all about the 6.0 PSD.

Well everyone knows about the 6.0psd. Somethings you don't need to be a genious to figure out, such as how much trouble Ford/Navistar was having with that engine...and the fact that Ford and Navistar are hardly on Talking terms right now, and it's not becuase everything is hunky-dory.

Not trying to sound like a snot, but it does not take an expert to figure this stuff out. It was far from a few isolated incidents, and you where one of the lucky ones. It would be prudent to give the new 6.4 a little time to work itself out before leaping in.

With that said, they have managed to work out many of the 6.0psd bugs out. Which is great.

Anyhow, I'm just say'in...

I have a 6.0psd and it has been flawless. Throughout my travels I'd say 95% of the really big 5th wheels are being towed with fords. When you talk to people that have them, the reason is GM and Dodge can't handle the weight of those trailers. Would I take a duramax over a powerstroke? yes, Would I take a GM truck over a Ford truck? never. GM and Dodge both have great diesels, but they need to step up to the plate and start making a real heavy duty truck.
