I have a fleetwood destiny westlake.
It's on a class 2 hitch rated at 3500 lbs. It rides okay but I do get "some sway" not white knuckle sway but once or twice where I don't feel exactly good about it on a 100 mile trip.
I take it I can put sway control on a class 2 hitch? Is this a common part? Could I find it at Wal-mart near all their hitch stuff or is this RV dealer or ebay kind of stuff?
Thanks
Sorry for so many questions but this is my first pup )

I've got a Reese friction anti sway hitch on a Centennial 3606 and it works great. You can get them online or at the local rv place...check prices. Mine came with the camper, but they should not be difficult to install, and some campers have the holes predrilled for a anti sway hitch.
Welcome to the forum, it is a wealth of info.

A local RV dealer installed ours. It is a Reese friction bar and installed was about $140.00 in 20 minutes time. My DW has never driven while towing yet felt a big improvement as a passenger.
A couple others on this forum told me DO IT and I am glad I did. There is a HUGE difference in how the TT or PUP handles with vs without. The only downside (if you can call it that) is you need to remove the sway bar before backing up. It will rack the frame of some PUP's otherwise.
Our 3500lb Niagra tows more tame than our former 1700lb Americana did. I no longer White Knuckle it.

We have a Starcraft 2409 that weighs about 2000 pounds empty and our tow vehicle is a 2002 Ford Explorer with a 6 cylinder engine. I opted not to buy the Weight Distribution Hitch as i have pulled my pontoon boat many times and did not feel I needed it. The sales person strongly suggested the anti-sway bar because i have a slide out {so my camper is probably heavier to that side. I did purchase this and had them install it. On our drive home we got a lot of sway as we had a headwind. i cranked up the pressure on the friction bar and the sway went away. This is one of the best investments I have made. The safety of my family is worth the price and my wife would be afraid to drive with the camper swaying. Now it doesn't. If you have a light or skinny tow vehicle, get a sway bar. W.A.

I have towed our pup without it and it was ok, but it pulls a lot more smoothly with it on.
And this is with a long wheelbase full size pick-up.
I got my hitch/sway bar from the rv dealer as it was not with the pup from trade in.

no never did with our Jayco Quest 12 foot and not now with our Coleman Utah 12 ft. with front storage box. Never had a problem. We tow with a 2001 GMC Sierra extended cab with tow package.

Yes class II receivers can use the Reese/Drawtite friction sway control. Depending on the year of your trailer Fleetwood may already drilled the 6 hole pattern in the tounge for installing it.
One note: if you have someone install it, insist that they NOT use air powered tools to tighten the bolts. Every case of failure we've seen over the years was traced back to using an air gun. The bolts don't fail right away, just after time and usually at the worst time...LOL

We test towed a 2002 Westlake for about 30 miles. The sway control was a must have, and I had to stop a couple times to tighten it up more. We decided it was too much camper for our TV.
We also used the sway bar on our current camper for 2 years. This past spring I installed a single bar WDH attachment and we haven't needed to use the sway control since then.
I did however have to get an alignment done on the TV after a 1000 mile trip to the beach due to the effects of the spring bar (in my opinion).

Am new to towing and RV'ing. My Jayco is a slide-out and does have a lot of weight on the front end and one side.
I have an issue to resolve on too much weight on the rear of the TV, but just came back from a trip last week with 20mph winds for almost 4 hours while towing at 65-70mph and no sway.
I have read on this forum, that apparently, not all PUPS are created equal as far as sway (realizing there are other factors inducing sway besides design of PUP).
I guess it's not an issue for me and I have a relatively short wheelbase vehicle.

I am a believer in sway control. We pull our Yearling with a van and we had one installed when we bought it. It pulls very well with it. One time I forgot to tighten it up and could tell the difference. They are worth every penny as far as I am concerned.
