I would question the idea that the Goodyear G614's are being made in China. The ones that I looked at (that had just arrived at the dealer) in Sept. were made in the USA and had a date code in the early spring or summer of this year.

Gaffer - your "interpretation" of the date code is kind of "ify"!?
(you should know the week of the year when they were made!)

I don't want or need "G" rated tires - but there sure is a lengthy thread on GY G614s on Escapees HDT forum about them - about 20 pages! Not sure China was
the issue/s. Lots of heavy trailers there = lots of "G" rated tire users.

See: "Warning--Goodyear G614 tires".
Easy way to find it - do a search on "Sumitomo". (A poster found some
"G" rated Sumitomos - made in Japan, not China - narrows down the "hits".)

Let me get this right....you are going to replace brand new tires? Why? Use them and enjoy them...way too many tire brands being badmouthed on this forum. If you read this forum there are no good tires. Keep and run them till they NEED repolacing

Wrong! There -ARE- good tires!

They're just not made in China!
Maybe you need to check for the tire *FAILURES* !!
(Chinese exception "may" be Maxxis. Jury is out on that one.)

Hard to "enjoy them" while either:
Changing a wheel/tire on the side of the road - especially on the
"traffic" side . . . . or -
waiting for the tow truck to show up.

OK to "badmouth" after a blow out damages your trailer?
Maybe that's a rant, and the posters should still be . . . happy!?

Maybe GY could not take the pain of chinese failures, and moved production back state side! Chris
