We have a 35 CLQS as well and it pulls fine with our SRW 05 Ford F350 PSD. I keep all water tanks empty when we travel and leave anything we don't need for sure at home to keep weight down. The rig is new and I have not had a chance to weigh it yet but will.

There are many variables in the tow vehicle equation. The advertised dry pin weight is 2255. That kind of pin weight will max out a 3/4 ton truck. Depending on how your 5er is optioned out, and also how much "stuff" you carry with you, your pin weight could approach 3000 pounds. Although I do not own a Jayco product, I have tow a 5er that is comparable with regards to weight. My TV is a F350 with a GVRW of 13,000 lbs. My experience has been that operating anything at or above its limits is not a good thing. A one ton DRW truck will serve you well in this application.

We just pick up our Jayco Designer 34 RLQS. I tow it with a new Chevy 2500 Duramax crewcab with SWB. Mine has the new 6.6 engine and built-in brake control.

The trailer is heavy but the truck handles it just fine. The dealer said he sales them to people all the time without dulleys.

Nice trailer. We love ours. Tex

Bottom line...you are over weight and most salesmen don't know their product, or do know it and are only interested in a sale.

One of the drawbacks to owning a late model diesel is that we sometimes get a false impression what is really safe to tow. The increased hp and torque the newer engines create can be a double edged sword. Don't be misled by a salesman. A 5er in this weight class clearly needs a DRW tow vehicle in order to be within limits.

You guys are just not understanding the "new" SRW trucks. My chevy is the new just released and has the same brakes, drivetrain etc as the DRW. The only difference in my truck and a new dulley is the extra wheels. I also have the 17" wheels with the 265 tires that come stock on the chevys now. Last year Duramax had 16" 245's. Like I said before my truck handles my trailer with no problem. No pitching or bucking and stops great. I love my setup and yes it is safe and yes it does handle perfectly believe it or not! Tex

I'd like to know where does the big 3 manufacturers state that at 'x' weight, you must go to a dually. A lot of you immediately responded that a dually is necessary with only a few saying their SRW does just fine. Are the weight/tow capacities different for SRW vs DRW?

I'm really curious because if we purchase another 5th wheel, this model is on our short list as well as a few other models that fall within the same weight range.

tks.
