That's precisely why, after nine years of being bashed by Floridian campground managers who never read Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People, that we decided to give Texas a try.
Just the friendliness in the voice of the manager as she took my reservation, convinces me that I made the correct choice.
The fact that the TX CG cost is 1/3 to 1/2 of the FL CG cost is incidental.

Come on Rod .... WHERE in FL have you been? ..SURE - there are some areas that are not RV "friendly" and want to dip-in-your-wallet more than in others.
BUTTT ...I would spend those confederate $$$ where ever they will take it. It ain't gonna' be worth anymore than it is now !
Had never been down the Keys until 3 years ago. $85 a night to park my pick up camper and NO sewer. They would bring a truck around and for ANOTHER $15 dump your tanks. Key West was just an expensive tourist trap with poor parking. Cant even see the ocean most of the trip down the highway. Wont be back. However, did come backup and stayed at Fort Wilderness at Disney World. Had the time of my life! Will go back for sure. Probably fly in though.

I love the intolerance and prejudice. I'm sure Florida has its share of 'mean' people. Just like any other state.
Don't take your organs to heaven. Heaven knows we need them here.

The florida keys are a wonderful area. Sorry you didn't enjoy it, but you do have to realize that Key West is at the end of a long island chain. It is very limited in real estate, fresh water and EVERYTHING is trucked or piped in for the most part. Kinda makes it pricey.
But places like Bahia Honda or John Pennycamp state parks are not that expensive, are quite nice, and are usually full. Mostly of people who will never come back Im sure.
As for not seeing the ocean, that is an increasing problem. Its either condo's or native vegitation unless you are on a bridge. I guess we could remove the vegitation, but in a few short years the keys would 'wash' away.

People usually find what they are looking for.
Whether it be unfriendly natives, surly shop people or uncaring salesmen.
The attitude projected is what is often returned.
To generalize and state that the population of the 4th biggest state in the Union is rude and unfriendly is just ignorant. Friendly and rude is everywhere, not limited to one area.
Nice begats nice......have fun in Texas, we'll be just fine here.
