It only seems that there are fewer and fewer RVers going to Florida.
With the "Boomers" beginning to retire, a percentage of them will also adopt the RV lifestyle. This means continued growth and pressure on already existing parks.
You guys are all right and wrong....
Cg's in Fl are full to capacity, BECAUSE, they are closing down in large #s to build condos due to real estate going thru the roof, about 5 so far in the Keys alone. But on the flip side because of supply and demand, taxes, etc. prices are rising. So you have people staying away because of very high costs, and then still enough people willing to pay, but less places to stay...

Yep. RV parks around Orlando are falling like flies. Ours near Disney is the next to go. Golf communities and Condos are spreading like a cancer. Hopfully the current slow up in development will spare us.

Mission, TX 78572
Average Winter High Temperature 61 degrees
Average Winter Low Temperature 47 degrees
I consider anything under 70 degrees cool.
Therefore, if I am going to be cool, I may as well stay in southern Ontario
Other opinions may vary.
My opinion is about the same plus the constant wind. We went west last winter and stuck it out for a month. We high tailed back to Florida. Texas is cheaper tho.
If real estate was going through the roof, a lot of these condo projects would be busy right now. Nobody's buying anything near the coast, Florida or not. We have several parcels that were purchased in order to build condos but are sitting idle because the market has slowed so dramatically. Average DOM (days on market) has gone from 30 to 300 days in the Keys, typically a very rapidly rising real estate market.

This website shows National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration climate information. Compare the graphs for McAllen, TX and Tampa, FL and the winter portions are almost identical.
I was talking to a Park Ranger down the Keys. Although a number of RV parks are being sold and the total number of campsites is down, he claimed that attendence at the Florida State Parks has been trending down the last few years. I still have my annual reservation down the Keys and have had no problem. Still, the campground at which I stay is filled to capacity from mid November to mid April. The peak season is the peak season and in many area a campsite will be in demand. Personally, we find it more comfortable weather wise and traffic wise to camp in the spring and fall off season.

Keywestrv... Good point, most of the purchases were a few yrs ago. during the buying frenzy, but now that real estate is in the toilet the projects lay still.
But the bottom line is the cg's are still closed. KOA Festia Key a 70 acre cg was sold a few yrs ago to build condos for about 90mil. luckly they are still open, but Fl. Keys rv, America Outdoors, the 2 that were in Key West, just to name a few are gone, very sad...
I agree with the posters talking about Texas - Florida wants the "snowbird" money but that is it. Texas loves their "winter Texans" and it shows in everything they do for us. We quit giving our winter money to Florida years ago and are now proud "winter Texans!" I have no desire to go back to Florida in any season - very unfriendly people there. I think everyones should go to Texas once and see what true hospitality is.
