I have a Norcold model N61 refrigerator that operates as either electric on AC, or when no AC, on propane. Recently it stopped working on propane. When you switch to gas the green and amber lights come on, and it starts the thirty second trial. The ignitor sparks and the flame comes on. But at the end of the 30 seconds it shuts off and they start blinking about once a second. Supposedly this means there is no propane. I have checked everything and read both the installation manual and owners manual at least 3 times. Gas pressure is good, all the other gas appliances work fine. The manual shut off valve is open, and obviously during the 30 second period it is getting gas and igniting. If there is air in the system the air can be purged by going throu the start up procedure 3 or 4 times, I have done it at least 20. I suspect the lockout valve is stuck. I disconnect the wires and tried the ignition process. Nothing. So it seems to be working for 30 secs at least. This fridge is about 3 years old. Oh yeah, I made sure the MH was level both ways. These things won't work on a slant.
Any ideas?

Clean around the pilot, and make sure that the spark rod is in the pilot flame. Some times carbon will build up around the pilot and block the flame from touching the spark rod, and it must, that's how it knows it has a pilot.
The circuit board conducts current through the flame to ground, if its not doing this it will time out and lock out. If this is not the problem, you most likely need a new board.

The reason soot can be a problem around the pilot is that the gas burned by the pilot is not premixed with air, like the main burner is, so it has a rather unclean burn,(too much gas and not enough air = soot) and in time can build up a stack or wall of soot, blocking the flame from the rod.
The last time mine did this, I fixed it with a straw in 30 sec. But a vacuum would have been better.

Make sure you are getting 12 volts to the fridge. Check to make sure your batteries are charged.

Thanks Jenks, I have both the on-line manuals and the paper ones that came with the unit.
Mfox, I need to do that. Batteries are ok, fully charged, but I haven't checked the voltage at the unit.
Thanks Jim, I'll try that too.
Unfortunately I have been away all day and haven't had time to do anything. My daughter is getting married Sunday and she and my wife have got me running around like crazy. After Sunday though I'll have plenty of time.

My 3 year old N621 Norcold fridge did the same thing - I checked everything... cleaned the burner, chimney etc.... ended up having to buy a new power board. In my case the area on the board that the spark electrode hooked up to did not register enough voltage when the flame headed up the electrode to register it on the board. I put in the new board and the fridge worked perfectly. I got the board from rvmobile... great service!
