Passport Ultra Lite by Keystone. We began this adventure with a brand new travel trailer RV by Keystone and a new Dodge Ram 1500 with the idea that we wouldn’t get stranded half way across the country having vehicle troubles. We even went as far as to purchase all of the extra warranty policies we were offered so that everything and anything would be covered in the event of something going wrong. From day one, the Passport was missing one of it’s slide out rollers and had a leak in the fresh water holding tank. We made Pete’s RV of Vermont where we had purchase the RV aware of these issues immediately. They ordered the roller from Keystone in May, and coached us through patching the water tank. The roller took until the end of July for Keystone to get it to Pete’s. Then they shipped it out to us in Minnesota. We attempted to put the roller on ourselves, which should have been relatively easy, but it would pop off as soon as we would try to push the slide in. Upon further investigation as to why, we realized that the tracks for the slide weren’t parallel so there is no way for the roller to stay on. This was probably just pushed through like this at the factory. Just about this time, we were starting to notice some serious wear on the Insides of the trailer tires. We called Keystone, only to get passed off to the tire manufacturer. I called the tire company, and was told to go ahead and switch out the tires, ship the tires to southern California, and IF it was tire defect then they would reimberse us. So then what? I asked. It’s obviously something with the camper axels, not tire defect, so new tires will wear out again. We called Keystone back and asked them about the axels. The suggested we have someone look at the axels. We had already stopped at on dealer, who was nice enough, but couldn’t help. We called around to several dealers in hopes someone would take a look, but each one was too busy, or subletted out tires and axels. We called Keystone yet again. This time, I may not have been so nice. But, they finally called a dealer (1 and a half hours away) who was able and willing to look at our Passport. We packed up, and went South. The service person who came out to look easily identified that the axels looked wrong, and that was the source of the dangerously uneven wear. They contacted Keystone RV customer service, filled out all the necessary warranty paperwork and forms, and we left our traveling home with them. This was Monday. We called Tuesday, and the paperwork was being reviewed by Keystone. We decided to trust that things were being taken care of and not bother them on Wednesday. On Thursday morning, we called once again, now hoping that the axels were on their way, and we’d be back on the Road in our Keystone Passport Ultra Lite no later than Monday. Well, as I’m sure you can see, Keystone had reported back that they needed pictures of the axels and needed the unit weighed before they would honor any work or parts. I called Keystone and got pushy. Okay, just a little. I told the man Craig, who we are working with at Keystone that he had exactly 2 hours to get parts on the way to MN before he heard from my lawyer. They have already refused to assist us by lending us a rental or helping out with hotel rooms (not to mention the added expense of food…our groceries are in the refrigerator, and now we’re eating out and staying in hotels). One hour and 45 minutes later, Craig called us and quickly let us know that the parts had been ordered. He then got off the phone before I could make anymore demands, I think. We called the RV dealer who has the NECI camper right now, and they said the same, that parts had been ordered (two axels, 4 tires, and a water tank) but that the company who makes the axels didn’t have anymore, so Keystone was going to find some for us. That bring us up to date. I am about to call Keystone again and find out where those axels are. If we’re not in that camper again my Wednesday (10 whole days after we’ve given it to them) I might Really loose it. This blog has been written to warn any Passport and potential Keystone customers. I like my camper, we’ve made it home, but it surely isn’t built with quality and care. Buyers beware.
have a freind with a passport and has many issues with it also,he bought it from one of the internet wholesalers and no one will touch it till nov. he's had it 7 months and only been able to use it 3 weekends
The Passport is the new Zeppelin...sorry about your troubles. We had a Zeppelin, so I know exactly where you are coming from. Put constant pressure on Keystone, don't take no for an answer, document EVERYTHING and understand that you won't really get any satisfaction until about the third layer of CS.

I just posted "Looking for Zeppelin II/Keystone owners" wanting to hear from Zeppelin by Keystone owners...however, in just a few hours I am reading more and more about Keystone Trailers period, not just my make and model Zeppelin.
Please I ask for those who have experienced a problem with their Keystone trailer, especially those with a slideout problem to e-mail me through my web page about my problems with my Zeppelin at
And I will begin addressing these issues with Keystone personally. I feel it is a big injustice and consumer rip off to produce such a inferior product and without warning of inherent problems.
I want details of your problem and with your permission I will post on my site. Unless authorized I will leave your real name and e-mail address off my site.
Inconvenienced again by the same problem, Doc in Salt Lake Valley
We had the Zeppelin Z281 and I know what you mean. When I looked at the new replacement for the Zeppelin (The Passport), I was disppointed. It look even more cheaply made than the Zeppelin. No ducted furnace on it. That is odd for the price you pay for a TT.
I went round and round with Keystone over slide issues, leaks, bad tires, until I was exhausted. Filled out an oline complaint form for the MO state attorney generals office and low and behold Keystone called ME! What could they do to make me happy, they didn't realize I was having all these problems. Bull....I called customer service so much I had their number on speed dial and new just about every customer service person they had.
The head of manufacturing called me and righted many of the wrongs. To bad it took almost a year of phone calls and aggrivation to get to that point.
From now on I go straight to the attorney general. Trailer Mfgs. want no trouble with them.
