I don't know if anyone else but me has thought that a crock pot liner was just an oven bag. I was wondering if putting a knot or a zip tie at the top would make it function like its original design and help the food cook a little faster. I suppose someone will chime in that it is supposed to take a long time but humor me and tell me if you've tried it or think my logic makes any sense,

Sounds like it would work but you'd still have to put a few holes in the top of the bag and your juices might spill out anyway. I'm enamoured of the crock pot and have all these recipes but don't use it...but I'm gonna...one day...

Not the same. The crock pot lines are IIRC rated to 250 degrees where as oven bags are rated to 350 degrees. So don't sub a crockpot liner for an oven bag. And as for tying a crock pot bag off in a crock pot to try and increase the temp and reduce the cooking time. It won't seal much better than just the lid so it should have negligable effect on time.
Remember crock pot "real name" is "SLOW COOKER".

Where can I buy crock pot liners? I have looked in every local grocery store. Are they only available in the states?

Not sure if they are only available in the states, but you can get a sample from Reynolds. I find them with the plastic wrap and foil now that the nice folks here told me where to look!

Last weekend our air was out and I had to cook two briskets. I normally slow cook them in the oven with oven bags. I decided to put them one each in a crock-pot or slow cooker using the liners for the first time. Turned it on high for the first hour then low for about 5-6 hours or so. They came out the same as in the oven and the clean up was great. I will probably cook them that way from now on. I love both kinds of bags. I think you could use the cooking bags in the crock pots but not the other way around. Like above poster said the crockpot bags are different. Ladymc53 you should try your crock pot. I love putting mine on in the morning and walking in at night with dinner ready. I also use mine to make homemade tomato sauce. It works great because it doesn't burn on the bottom if not watched. I use mine when travelling and just sit it in the sink
I have not found them in Canada as of yet - the norm
but I have used the oven bags and have not a problem
as of yet
I use the crock pot bags when I have them on hand from
the states
