We have a 20 month old and he was camping when he was 2 months old. You take care of your kid at home, what is the differance in a camper?

Our oldest first started RV camping when he was about 8 months old. Our youngest was born in early May and we went camping that Memorial Day weekend when he was under 3 weeks old. Modern RV's have nearly all the amenities of home, so there is really no reason to worry about care for an infant. Our boys (now 8 and 13) prefer taking the RV to any trip involving a hotel/motel.

our kids grew up camping and I might add(proudly) they still go camping with us in their own TT's now and their kids have grown up camping. Guess we did something right.

Both of our boys started camping when they were three months old. The oldest started in a tent and the youngest in our old TT. They are both Eagle Scouts and have slept in a tent from 10 to 105 degrees. It may take a little out of you when they are younger but you will forget all of that when you look back at all the fun that they and you had.....

In a 5er? And your friends/family are questioning it? Evidently they aren't RVers. It'll be just like taking care of the baby at home only more fun. You'll probably not sight see as much, but you'll still be able to get away with your trailer. We started when our daughter was still in diapers, and we tented until she was about 6, then we had a PUP for a while. She's 23 and STILL tags along, only with her own tent now.

We are in a little different situation in that we have four kids (17, 17, 19 and 25) and two grandchildren (3-1/2 and 22 mos.). I camped growing up and my wife just started this year when we bought our 5er. We have had temporary custody of the grandchildren for the past 8 weeks and other than the first weekend that we had them have kept all of our scheduled camping trips. It is different with them along as they do require constant attention. However, when they are down for a nap or in bed we usually sit outside around the fire and talk more than we probably would without them there since we would probably be out doing other things without them. It is funny that we went camping for our anniversary last weekend without them and we ended up talking about them since they weren't there. Go and enjoy, they are only little once.

We have camped with our infant son since he was 5 weeks old, now he is almost 6 months. It's just like being at home.

I could see it if you had multiples that it might keep you too busy to camp. But with RV's you've got all the comforts of home. Babies can eat, sleep & poop anywhere.

I 2nd Campfire Time's response. Do these family/friends know anything about camping in a 5er? Have they ever camped, themselves?
A 5er is not camping. Just tell them that you are going RVing, not camping. You have a mobile condo, there, not a tent.
I have two girls, 7 and 5. They've been camping there whole lives.
Actually infants are easier than toddlers. At this point, he/she won't be moving around. Just wait until 18 months, you'll need to hose them off before you let them back inside.
Infants are more relaxing, too. My 7 and 5 year olds are high-energy. I need a vacation. I don't recall taking the older one out real young, but the second one went at two months.
