Are you trying to transit CT as quick as possible or do you want to see the sights?
Oct is leaf-peeping season in New England, generally peak color works its way from No VT in Sept to So CT in Oct. The Appalachian mtns running along rte 7 or so in western CT are prettier and slower than the interstate.
The state parks in CT, MA, VT tend to close with the onset of frost but some stay open and sometimes the state forests are more relaxed.
Try calling CT State Parks for a better idea of your options.
I'd be more help for you about MA or north. Maybe a CT resident can chime in.

If you're looking for an overnight rest stop, Exit 2 eastbound, I84, has a rest area with an RV area, dumpstation, tables, etc. This is in the Danbury area just past the NY/CT boarder. Not for "camping" but certainly an ok spot to spend a night.
Kettletown State Park....I believe is Exit 14....maybe 15. They have size restrictions, I haven't been there in years, so I can't vouch for the place, but when I went, it wasn't bad.
