Morning all. Spoke to OMS campground. A couple of cancelations. Still a big group, which is amazing.
Was talking yesterday with a Realtor about the state of "things" in the world, our country, our local community, and the economy. My philosophy is to not worry about things I can't control.
The gist of the conversation on her end was that there's never any "Good" news on the evening news anymore.
I told her I remembered an Anne Murray song from around 1983 that talked about that.
Here are the lyrics.
Anne Murray, Little Good News Lyrics
Artist: Murray Anne
Song: Little Good News
Album: The Best...So Far Anne Murray Sheet Music
I rolled out this morning
Kids had the mornin' news show on
Bryant Gumbel was talkin' 'bout the fighting in Lebanon
Some senator was squawkin' 'bout the bad economy
It's gonna get worse you see, we need a change in policy
There's a local paper rolled up in a rubber band
One more sad story's one more than I can stand
Just once how I'd like to see the headline say
"Not much to print today, can't find nothin' bad to say", because
Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today
I'll come home this evenin'
I'll bet that the news will be the same
Somebody takes a hostage, somebody steals a plane
How I wanna hear the anchor man talk about a county fair
And how we cleaned up the air, how everybody learned to care
Whoa, tell me
Nobody was assassinated in the whole Third World today
And in the streets of Ireland, all the children had to do was play
And everybody loves everybody in the good old USA
We sure could use a little good news today
Nobody robbed a liquor store on the lower part of town
Nobody OD'ed, nobody burned a single buildin' down
FADE
Nobody fired a shot in anger, nobody had to die in vain
We sure could use a little good news today

When Cindy brought the boys back from Scouts last night she informed me that the date for the Eagle Court for two of the boys' good friends was set for the weekend of this event. One of the boys was Den Chief for Munch and the other was Den Chief for Squirt when they were in Cub Scouts. Cindy was Den Leader for Squirt's Den, so Cindy had volunteered to take pictures and video of the event since she also knows them. Due to the conflict, will we have to miss this gathering.

I'm just in AWE at how much you get done in a few hours in the garage, and somehow, you STILL have time to get out and ride. Must be something in the water.... err... coffee.... err... beer up there? LOL!
Jill - You're a lucky girl!
I would like to just send my husband up there to learn HOW TO GET IN THE GARAGE!!
I don't think you have been able to get into our garage since a week after we bought the house years ago......he has so much junk in there he collects your lucky if you can get your arm in the garage let alone a whole body. He is always saving stuff "just in case someone needs it" I do have to say though....he does always seem to have what someone needs LOL.
I keep telling him I'm gonna start calling him inspector gaget!!

Biggs - It's the same at our house. I think Chris has been "sorting screws" for oh.....like 4 MONTHS! LOL! It drives me BONKERS! But, if I even take a STEP towards the workbenches, and threaten to do it myself, he visibly cringes, and mutters something about "your house, MY garage" I try not to fuss too much, until the garage starts overflowing into the house. See, the garage door entrance opens right into our dining room where there's a GORGEOUS 8' long dining room table. I prefer to EAT at the table, but Chris sometimes thinks that it's simply another workbench - GRRRRR!!!!!
I remember when we first met, and joined the forums. He posted a picture of something he built for the camper, and it was taken on the dining room table. The men noticed right away that he ALSO used to charge his drills and other power tools there, and the guys posted things like "gosh, your wife lets you keep your tools on the TABLE?! Mine would KILL me!". Chris replied with something like "That's why I don't HAVE a wife!" LOL! Well, THAT's about to change, or I should say it'll change if we ever get these wedding plans firmed up! LOL!
It IS nice to know that WHATEVER I need for a project around the house, he can usually disappear into the garage, and come back with it, custom made, in a few minutes. I just wish I could park the car in there, without having to worry about getting a stray nail in my tire, since my parking place is RIGHT next to the workbenches - LOL!
Well it is obvious that everyone is getting excited about our first camping outing of the season-even those "red Neck dogs"(awesome picture by the way). I took a quick look at the directions for Mill Stream, I was wondering is there a light on 30 to make that left? I am familiar with the area I just have not been to this campground.

Gary...I believe there's a light over by Dutch Wonderland that will allow a left-hand turn into their side of the parking lot, that will allow you to work your way over to the east side of the lot to get to the campground.
I just go in at the campground entrance. And, since we're not arriving till midnite, I don't think I'll have any issues.

Hmmmmmm...guess we'll have to start the evening campfire a little later that night, and throw on a few extra logs, in order to have the "Welcoming Committee" ready for your arrival
