Hello,
I posted a question couple of weeks ago, about our trailer floor with major water damage. Well this weekend I pulled apart the flooring and see that the water is coming from the roof though the walls.
My first question would be does anyone know if Starcaft had a problem with this type of roof. The roof has two parts with a joint near the front, and I believe this is were it is leaking from. My concern once it's fixed is that will we have molde between the walls? We brought the trailer last year used, it's a 2000 21RBS.
What type of cost would I be looking at to fix the roof.
Thanks for anyhelp on this.

Eternabond tape right over the existing (and good) seal on our trailer. Find their website, you can seal the whole roof with this tape.

Periodic roof resealing is actually required and should also be inspected annually.
Any dealer or camping supply retailers will have lap sealants and recommended caulks.
Its a reasonably easy job to do yourself, better get started.

Wow, surprised to hear that....we also had a 2000 21RBS for 6 years and never had any leaks whatsoever, and we used it quite frequently. Sorry to hear yours is leaking.

Preventive maintenance.
Travel trailers need annual or semi-annual roof caulking or at least checking. This is an attempt to minimize any re-caulking requirements.

Yup, EternaBond for me also. My Antigua is a 2005. I check it every year and have re caulked a couple of areas as preventive measures (no leaks). Next spring as soon as it comes out of inside storage I'm doing the EteranBond thing.

After the last hard rain we had, I noticed the floor in the front storage compartment was wet. I looked inside and found that there was a wet floor under the seating storage, directly behind the wet compartment. It appeared to have run down the inside of the wall and out at the bottom where it soaked the floor. So up on the roof I go. I found that the calking had been repaired many times in the past, but it had some tiny cracks.
So settle in, this will take a while...
I didn't take a pic before I started tearing it up, so this is a pic of the rear seam. It is representative of the front one before I cleaned it. Notice someone before me has done the skylight with EternaBond. I bought this HTT a few months ago from the original owner.

Here is the front seam after cleaning. Sure enough there was water under the seam area. I bought a 4" x 50' roll of EternaBond for $41 dollars at a local building supply.

You can see where water had run along the seam.

All clean!

A dab of sealer over the screws and EternaBond down over the whole width, and the corners where it meets the edge.

I also did the road side roof line. I will do the curb side and the rear seal in the very near future. I have bigger fish to fry first. Unfortunately, I found a whale of a problem elsewhere on the roof.

Like I said... it's a whopper. The TV antenna mounts here. As you can see, it has been leaking for some time. I am still deciding on a game plan here... in the mean time, it is drying out.

More pics to come soon...
Respect,
Brent

Well I spent a few hours removing the old caulk, the TV antenna, and the vent for the fridge.
I slipped a small sheet of very thin plywood over the rotten area. Here is the finished repair.
Here is the damaged area after removing the TV antenae. There was mounds of lap & caulk.

The following are the finished area.

I plan on doing all areas that are caulked now with Eternabond before it goes into storage.
