Sept 4 we will be traveling from central Michigan to Amboy, Ill (39 &52) Of course we will be pulling the RV and of course we will have to go thru the Chicago area. Can anyone suggest the best route?

Probably not much help to you but my own preference is 30,000 feet OVER it.

I travel through Chicago quite often, and always use I-294 which is a toll road. In your case, however, why would you go through Chicago at all? Looking at the map, I would just take I-80 to I-39 and up. You can pick up I-80 from either I-94 or I-69 depending on where you're coming from.

What MichDoc said. 127 to 94 to 80 to 39. north to exit 72 (route 34) then east.

Get an early start so you can get to the Chicago area (I-80) in the morning or you will get into the Michigan traffic coming back to Chicago from their summer homes.
