Have some for sale if you need any.

Stimulate your economy or theirs...your choice.
Honestly you may want to research thermoil.
Some battery companys did, at one time, use oil in batterys.....they lost sales. You do not saturate the plates but rather float a layer of oil on top of the electrolite.
Remember when sealed batteries were laughed at?
The site is posted in this thread...good read and proven out.
Is that Model A for sale?

I believe the idea originated with Thomas Edison.
He was right about a lot of stuff.

I don't know if Edison knew anything about electricity, but he did sell battery oil!

Buy an 8D battery from Cat, pop off a cell cover and you'll find mineral oil floating in there.
Lot of folks making statements and criticising on a subject they obviously know nothing about. Really shows their level of intelligence.

Now, THAT is interesting. Do you know who makes their batteries? Who adds the oil, CAT or the battery manufacturer?
Do they squeeze their own snakes or do they buy the oil?

one more vote for using oil. Works as described stops rapid evaporation of fluid and slows bubbling acid spray

I was going to give a straight up answer until you asked that question.

I’ve read about the mineral oil idea on the forums for a while, and finally tried it. It’s been a couple of months, and so far, so good. No more mess other than a thin film of road dust. No more adding water every 3 weeks either. It’s staying up now. We’ll see how much longer it takes before the levels drop.
I bought a 32 oz. bottle at Rite Aid (drug store) for about $7. It worked out to a little over 2.5 oz. per cell in my four golf carts. (12 cells total) I added water as usual, then the oil. The oil ends up about halfway up the cap’s level indicator, so now I know where it should be when/if I have to add water again.
The idea is that the oil floats on top of the water since oil’s lighter than water. (Even more so than H2SO4, since the sulfuric acid is heavier than straight water. The floating oil film forms a seal of sorts to hold back the bubbling hydrogen gas that otherwise heads out the vented caps. The H gas is what causes all the corrosion and mess. And, the water is lost due to the bubbling and escaping gas, so the level constantly drops.
I suppose non-detergent air compressor oil would also work, although it would be thicker than mineral oil. I’d avoid motor oil because of all the additives etc.
There’s also a ‘’hydro cap’’ you can buy that serves the same purpose. It’s absorbs the H gas and recirculates it. The things are about $15 EACH though, so do the math for 12 cells worth in a four-battery bank. (egads) They look like a mushroom, and each replaces your original vent cap.
