I located a nice, inexpensive RV park in Scottsburg, IN where I plan to spend the Labor Day holiday weekend. I obtained one of the few spaces left. I figured rather than travel on and take a chance not getting a spot at a decent park I'd just "lay low" for a few days and wait until everyone gets back to their daily grind. After the holiday, spaces will be more available at most parks. Besides, by doing this I give others a chance for a spot I may have taken. Many of these folks are on vacation and have limited time. I have all the time in the world as a fulltimer so I'm happy to help others who aren't fulltimers enjoy their camping experience. Are you doing the same?

BTW, the RV park where I'm staying is a nice, shaded smaller park and the cost is only $80/wk for full hookups. I guess this is as good a vacation spot as any....

We are staying at home this weekend, but have several more trips planned for the fall and up through Thanksgiving. I usually like staying at home on the major camping holidays, and going out when the roads and campgrounds are somewhat quieter.

We're in Mexico - no holiday until September 16th. And that's a doozy! When we're in the US for a holiday we generally go boondock somewhere in the mountains.

We're drivingway parking at BIL until Tuesday. Once the kids are back in school we'll head out - ahhh, open spaces again.

Home this weekend! Doo Wop Show on Saturday night, Blueclaws baseball on Sunday night with fireworks, home with the family on Monday. Next weekend a wedding and the season opening home game for the NY Jets. Leave on the 14th for 3 nights in Cape May. Taking the Delaware Bay Lighthouse Adventure, a 7 hour cruise aboard the Cape May Whale Watcher on Saturday. On the 17th take the CML Ferry and head to Assateague State Park until the 21st. That's it until Thanksgiving when we go to Old Mill Stream in Lancaster and do our Christmas shopping and then when we get home winterize until the spring. Have a safe weekend.

Bangor, ME for the week. Lucky to have called ahead 2 weeks ago. They are busy for the weekend. Not sure what the draw is here. Nothing going on and no activities to speak of. Just taking it easy with a nice place to stay. On to THE SHOW in Hershey,Pa in mid Sept. What a life.

We rushed over to the West Yellowstone area in Idaho on Wed. (Buffalo campground in Targhee NF) from the Pinedale WY area, to get ahead of the holiday campers. We found MANY great spots open in the Island Park area. (see our blog below) The reserved spots were all tagged. Now on Friday evening the campers are pouring in. Glad we landed early. Glad they can get out for the holiday camping event. The people watching will be fun, knowing next week they will all be back at work and we will have all this bounty to ourselves. We are having a few showers when many were setting up by now at 7 PM the sun is breaking out and it might be a fun camping night for all concerned.
Have a great Labor Day. We all deserve it. Americans take less time off then most of the rest of the industrialized world.
