I need some help on this one. My DW poured the dishwater down our toilet to get more water in the black tank for dumping. However, when she dumped it, a fork was still in the water, and went right down the toilet into the tank. It did not come out when we dumped. Do you think we will have a problem "down the road"? Or will it just lay on the bottom of the tank? HELP from a somewhat newbie.

The only problem you might have, should it decide to move, would be hanging up cross ways in the tank, and causing a stoppage as paper and what have you wrap around it.

You can remove the toilet without to much trouble, and reach down in side and feel around for it, of course you should dump the tank first and wash it down with some clean water first. Rubber gloves might also be an option. I wouldn't want it down there in my tank. JMHO Bill

It's hard to say if it'll be a problem down the road. I suspect that it won't and one day when you're flushing it'll come out. If anything,it may turn crosswise of the outlet and catch some paper. As insurance I would get a back flushing device (Flush King, Dual flush Pro, etc.) so that if that happened you could back flush to get it to move or turn. I wouldn't spend time worrying about it just be ready if it does happen.

DH and I were discussing your problem and feel it could be a definite problem. Drain the tank, turn off the water, get a light and see if you can see the fork by looking down the toilet. If a magnet will attach to your silverware maybe you could try rigging up something to lower a magnet into the tank and pull it out that way. Something else to try would be one of the grabbers that people use to pick things up. I don't know if one of those would fit down the toilet. Good luck. Toni

*NOTE TO SELF* If Ky Steve recovers the fork, don't go to dinner if he invites you!

A magnet will only work on certain metals. Was it sterling silver, aluminium, or stainless steel?

It could be a potential problem. If it is a set of 4 than you and your wife could only have one guest for dinner. Now if it is a set of 8 you would be better off. This would allow five guest, probably more than your RV could handle. Now, if your are eating outside, use plastic ware.

Yes, you could fish for it with a magnet.

My feeling is it will.. Some day.... Exit the tank and possibly lodge in the elbow at the end of the hose where you can easily remove it with a gloved hand.

But... Other things might happen too.
