Today’s Date – 9/14/07

Your Name – Randy Your State – Originally Florida

1. Do you own or rent your RV? – Own

2. How long have you owned this vehicle? – 5 months

3. What class of RV do you drive? - Class A Length? – 39 Feet

Make & Model – Itasca Horizon

4. Do you live in your RV full time? - Yes

4c. If YES, you live in your RV full time, do you have a permanent home to return to? – Our home is on the market and we have no plans to return to it.

4d. If YES, you live in your RV full time, for how long have you done so? – 6 Months

4e. Do you work outside of your home? If so, where? Is it seasonal employment? If it is seasonal, do you return to the same job year after year? – No, Retired.

4f.What’s the best part of living in an RV full time? – The ability to explore this country and still come back home and sleep in my own bed every night. There are so many “best parts” it was hard to pick just one.

4g. what’s the worst part? – I have not found a worst part.

4h.Do you have plans to live in a permanent structure again? – That was our original plan. We are not so sure now.

If yes, when? – If and/or when we get tired of this lifestyle.

4i. Do you travel extensively within the U.S.A.? or do you park the RV in campgrounds for extended periods? – We generally travel 2-3 hours and stay at that destination for 7-10 days depending on what there is to see and do there. 7 days has been the norm for us so far.

4j. Do you return to the same campgrounds year after year? – I feel that there is too much to see out here to be returning to any given spot year after year.

4k. Do you have any words of advise for newbies to the lifestyle? – Spend a lot of time learning from those that are already out here and doing this. I spent two years on RV.Net just reading posts and asking questions before we purchased our first RV. I also visited RV parks and asked the campers there what they liked or disliked about their current RV.

4l. What was your jumping in point? What made you go ahead and take the plunge? – We had already decided that once I retired we would start fulltiming. I retired April 1st and on April 3rd we were in the RV and traveling. We had to come back in to town for my retirement party so we stayed in an RV park ½ mile from our condo but only returned to the condo to pick up a few items that we had forgot. We have not stayed in it since we went on the road.

A question that was not asked but maybe implied by question 4L is:

Why did you decide to go fulltiming?

I answered this in another thread that you had started but I will repost it here.

The original idea was to find an area we wanted to live in and rent a house or apartment there for a year or so before we purchased anything. This way we would know if this was truly the place to settle down.

As we got closer to retirement we decided that if we had an RV we could explore the whole Country to find where we would eventually settle.

That has now evolved in to just traveling around and enjoying what our great Country has to offer. We may “settle down” again one day but, so far, both of us feel that there is way too much out here to be enjoyed.

Hello again,

A few months back I posted a questionnaire with reference to fulltiming RVing. I was researching the topic for both my own benefit as well as for a college composition class. I promised that I would post the report when it was completed.

If anyone would like to read the report please send me a private message with your off forum e-mail address. I can send it as an attachment in Word. The report is too large for this e-mail program.

Thanks to all that replied. I received a grade of B. I thought I deserved an A..
