I was wondering if anyone knew if I would be encountering very many long steep uphill grades from Sante Fe to Colorado Springs.

Any info is appreciated.

I ran it from northern Wyoming (Orin) down thru Cheyenne and Denver. Had no problems pulling my 36 ft 5th wheel with 2500HD Duramax GMC. Most are long and should give you no problems. (August 2007)

IIRC.... Once you leave Santa Fe it's fairly "level" until Raton and then you go over Raton Pass.

Then there's a couple of "uppy-downs" before you hit Pueblo but nothing to be concerned about.

NGRRfan should have also said that Raton Pass (CO/NM border) is not a very steep nor very long pull. One of the easiest in all of CO mountain country. WE travel that section of I25 almost every spring in our migration from AZ to CO. and reverse in the fall (October is fast approaching!!

Thanks for the responses. I was hoping I wouldn't encounter the same type of grades on I-25 that we had on I-70 in Colorado. Those grades on I-70 are brutal on equipment.

Heading north on 25 just before you get to the Rye/Colorado City cutoff, There is a fairly steep down hill grade (probably 5%) with a sharp left curve. I grew up near that area and it sneeks up on people. Seen many semi's and RV's roll there. If I remember right its around mile marker 70.

We travel from Raton to Colorado Springs a lot. We're pulling a 38' 5th and never had any problems. Just like everybody said Raton pass is the only steep one and its not bad.
