The plug pulled out of the break away switch on my way home over the weekend. 120 mile trip and the breaks locked up 300 ft from the driveway while I was turning. Not sure what happened, but I'm guessing the cable maybe snagged on something when I took the corner.
Question: Where is the proper place to attach the cable? I have been attaching to the hitch pin.
Question: Should I be checking the plug routinely when I leave. It seems to take a decent force to pop out.
I first thought that maybe vibration broke it out, but when I re-installed it I noticed it clicks into place. So my only thought is that it snagged when I turned.

I expect it may have snagged something too. Unless it is worn out (unlikely) then it shouldn't have wiggled out due to vibration.
They say you are supposed to hook it to something other than any part of the hitch. The theory is that if the hitch falls off (or any part of the hitch) the camper brakes will still be triggered. Assuming it was connected to part of the hitch -- if the hitch falls off, there will be no triggering of the camper brakes.
I just make sure I push it in each time as I am hooking it up, and I usually try to find a hole in the frame of the truck to hook it too, especially for longer trips.
