What do you think the best cell phone/internet access combo for someone who is ONLINE constantly, and uses the cell phone only as needed? And can this in anyway be connected to direct tv?
At my sticks and bricks home, I currently access the internet with hughes.net as well as having direct tv.
Thanks!

Based on my experience, Verizon's America's Choice, cell plan... 450 min/peak; free nights and weekends, mobile to mobile; for $39/mo and an air card, $60/mo. More than meets my need for talk and Internet. YMMV.

you want the phone to be a modem for the PC, no problem, lots of choices
you want the phone to be the internet PC, you have options like BB, or palm pilots, other smartphone PDAS, some with touch screens sytlus , others with keyboards,
display size, update speed , battery life, all come into play
for 3 weeks, I've using a new Motorola Q9m from verizon, but battery life is not as good as I want, the indicator for charge is way out of calibration OR the battery is bad, it will died and shut in under 15 hrs with NO use of any kind just being on standby
there are many smartphones out there but this is my first one, and my opinion is DON"T buy this one.

stormysmom: Since you already have HughesNet, have you considered taking your satellite on the road with you? There would be no additional internet cost! Only a cost to purchase the necessary equipment. There are many RV'ers that purchase an additional dish, tripod, cable, and some meters. Then, they take their modem from the house and go mobile! For more information, you should join the Yahoo Group for tripod users, or there is a section for tripod users on the DataStorm Users Forum. There are dealers that can get you setup for a mobile system.
Regarding TV, if you presently have a DirecTV LNB on your satellite dish, you can setup your mobile system just like your home using your home receiver. Otherwise, you might need a new DirecTV dish (purchase from EBay), dish stand, and cables. With your home receiver, you now have DirecTV on the road! Again, no additional cost for service! Only a cost for the equipment.
Finally, cell service is up to you on what you deem the best. Do you have cell service now?
