I've been waiting for Harbor Freight to put these hardwood clamps on sale, I paid $3.99 last week ($10.00 less $7 coupon) each, then I had a $5 coupon for some fuses that have been recalled, so my out the door price for wheel chocks was $3.19 for BOTH sides!.

Got me some string and a magic marker, and drew a couple of arcs with a radius of my tires.

Fired up the Band Saw:

and then the belt sander:

then checked against the arcs:

and then I had to take a trip out to the storage yard to check them out:

So, here's a question, do I have enough surface contact area or should I expand them?

looks like if you add a block to each side of the clamp the whole tire tread would be covered.

I agree, you need more surface contact.

thats awesome. I have been debating what kind of wheel chocks to buy, or possibly make.
I have an old wood working clamp in the garage that I havent used in ages.
I will have these made later today
Awesome

Thanks for sharing

I made our wood chocks and used a 2x6 but added a wider piece to make it 2". I see no reason yours will need more wood. You are a clever fella. chevman
