Someone was asking about diesel prices as they drive from the south towards NY: if you can, fill up in Delaware or New Jersey, it's quite cheap there! New York state has some of the most expensive fuel prices on the East Coast...
Oil a barrel is dropping so fast it'll probably be in the $79 a bbl soon (the lowest annual prices for retail gasoline/diesel are always from November to end of December). I'm predicting $2.70 a gasoline gallon by Dec 15th; diesel at $3.10; however, by January/February, gasoline and diesel will be back up to ~$4.00 + a gallon, unfortunately.
Historically, the best time to RV long-haul is from roughly October to December vis fuel prices! You'll save roughly 30% to 40% on your fuel costs during that time. We were seriously considering a last second unplanned trip to Utah starting October (we would save over $800 in fuel costs compared with traveling last May!), but had to bow to reality (too hectic for Silverdunes at 'the office' this fall).
North of the border, our gasoline and diesel are still at $5.60 a gallon! Showing no sign of going down at all. So, if you're traveling from Quebec or Ontario and going to the Northeast Rally, drive it to the border without filling on the Canadian side, and you could save close to $100 on your first tank, if you arrive at the US on empty.

My truck died on the way to school this morning, I'll get the camper off and get the truck into the shop tomorrow, It may? be the fuel pump, it's in the tank and the easyest way to change it is to remove the bed. The pump runs around $500.00, So ............. it's looking like I may not make the rally. Please have fun for me.

Oh no Phil!!! Pump plus brakes is not fun. We'll keep our fingers crossed that you make it. You might want to call the campground and see if you can get your deposit back.
We'll really miss you if you can't come.

Can't wait to get out of work.....is it 11:30 yet?

Well, we both took the day off on Friday and planning to escape the kiddies early tomorrow. Cycle schedule day has me having an end of the day planning period, preceding with lunch and a 'study type' period. A partner has offered to cover so if all goes as planned we'll be on the road by 2 -2:30 and rolling in somewhere around 7 - 7:30. Going out to finish the packing. Not much to do as I left everything from the last trip. Been cycling to work and picked up another set of wheels so I haven't needed the truck. Looks like we'll see all tomorrow!!!
I'm jealous of all of you guys that are already there or are arriving on Thursday! Unfortunately, we need to work on Thurs so won't be there till noon on Friday. I suppose we could have left after work on Thurs, but its a bit too far of a drive (guessing around 4 hrs or so - GPS shows just under 4, but that's without stops).
I look forward to seeing you all again as well as meeting others for the first time- we had a great time at the Spring Rally in VT.
