Does anyone know how to interpret the 17 character VIN code for the Chevy Kodiak. I've looked high and low on the NET and can't find anything which describes the detail. I appreciate any help given.

just did a google using the words " VIN CODES ' and a few lines down it gives Wikipedia as a source. went there and GM has a boat load of codes, however they only appear to go to the year 2005, maybe I am missing something, but its a start for ya, good luck, and hope this helps some

Thanks, but I've been to most of these sites. They primarily give generic information rather than what the specific characters mean for the specific vehicle; i.e., the engine type, transmission type, etc. Maybe I'm just blowing in the wind but it seems to me it shouldn't be this difficult to find the data. The information for my 4 wheeler is in the owners manual.

Try a google search for "GM VIN Decoding", or you could call GM customer service, I'm sure they will tell you what you need to know.

Can not help you with the decode. But give McCormick Motors a call. They deliver all Kodiak chassis to the various MH manufactures in northern Indiana. I got my info from Ivy Arndt. Very knowledgeable on the Kodiak's. Her link is on bottom of page listed above.

Thanks Roger. More helpful. The 'Decoding Modern Car VINs' provided the most information, although primarily for cars, it filled in most of the blanks that I had. Some questions remain and for those I will call GM. Thanks again.

The people over at dieselplace.com on the forum could also offer some insight. There are several GM Techs that frequent the site.

What is it you need to know... If it's the model year then it's the 10th character IIRC (Same as on cars and it's the same code too.
