My wife is a nurse. We are in our 50s and comfortable financially.

We've talked about doing something like this for several years now and this thread has kindled the fire. Both of us love to travel and we have an RV.

I've got marketable skills that would be in demand in almost any market.

We're right on the edge. Perhaps someone could tell us something that would push us over? (LOL!)

The SO is a travel nurse. She has been doing it for 12 yrs. Gave up the NP and 1st assist on the heart team in KS to go back on the road.
This is my first year on the road with her. So Far I like it. Was concerned that I might not find enough to keep me busy. Has not been a problem yet.
She is a pro at this and knows how to get the recruiters to work hard for her. How to mark up the contracts to cover herself and make sure that she gets the best deal.
Been trying to get her to sign up on this site to reply. She thinks that this site and RV repairs and off time excursion planning is my job.

PM me if you would like her take, or if she can give you some tips.

Oh I SEE from your pic in your signature what keeps YOU busy on the road, LOL!!! Great! I hope to become a travel nurse in the near future. I have 14 years nursing experience, but none traveling. My husband will still work...of course until we get a nice nest egg....then maybe he can become an RV husband. He works so hard, I wouldn't mind that.

Accepted the assignment and sent the deposit for the campground. Plan on heading South the 29th and will start work Jan.8. Am in the process of packing and deciding what to take. The 5'er isn't at my house, it's 500 miles away. I have plenty of room in the TV to cart things there, just don't want to forget anything. Hopefully there won't be another weekend snow or ice storm before I depart.

Rhonda, we plan on doing the same thing when youngest son graduates HS. Won't be for another 6 years. I am a RN and have 21 years experience in the OR. Hubby works for Chrysler and could do consulting work for them. I haven't looked into the different companies and such alot, but my friend does travel nursing. She has worked in CA a couple of times for 60 dollars a hour, plus housing expenses. She really likes it. I have another friend who has done the travel thing, she has worked in FL and the Virgin Islands for about the same amount per hour with housing paid plus bonuses. Sounds really nice, and a great way to see the country. Keep me posted. I will be right behind you.
