My wife and I spent some time yesterday at a Jayco dealership and after going through some trailers, the 25 RKS had the floor plan we liked. The question we have is in regards to the rear kitchen. Friends of ours have said not to buy a rear kitchen layout as dishes, etc tend to get bounced around. Other than this we like the trailer. All of our previous trailers had the mid kitchen layout. Any comments/opinions? Thanks.

Our QUE has an L shaped kitchen with a portion on the rear. The dishes are stored on the side and sit just fine over the axel. Now that you mention it, the coffee, sugar, flour, tupperware containers are all over the place, and they are what's stored in the back cabinets. I would have never thought of that, but the bouncing is probably the cause. Since we're searching for a larger unit, thanks for asking that question!

We have the 25 rks and have had a few things bounce around but after talking to my buddy who has a motorhome I think its just part of the deal. He has had stuff fly out of cabinets and doesnt have a rear kitchen. The few times we have had problems it seems it was that last speed bump right at the campground that got me. I guess Im too excited when I get that close to slow down like I should.
We like our trailer when its just us but if you go to adding kids it gets small real fast.

We have a rear kitchen. It's no issue. Stuff there gets bounced around as much as anywhere else. The only thing we watch is not to load to much in that area and throw the balance (tongue weight) off kilter. Like fluids in the fridge, frozen food, etc. It takes quite a bit to do that though. Just pack well and slow down when appropriate.

We have the Cougar 243RKS, which is essentially the same floorplan as you are looking at. We were told the same thing by some "veteran RVer's" about rear kitchens. Yes, you will get some shifting of items in the cupboards, but it is not terrible for the most part. I have Corelle dishes. I have lined my cupboards with the Rubbermaid grippy foam stuff and also cut out squares of it a put it between my dishes. That has really helped. It just kind of depends of the road as to how much movement we get. Of course I have nothing to compare it to as this is our first travel trailer (we had a tent trailer before).

In a trailer this size, I really like the rear kitchen. It gives me a lot of counter space and I am out of the way of the living area when preparing meals. I wouldn't not buy a rear kitchen just because of movement.

Our Aljo also has the rear kitchen. We've never really had a problem with anything getting broke. My wife does stuff an old pillow in the cabinet to prevent any or much movement. However, even when we've forgotten to do so, we still haven't had a problem. We really like the rear kitchen and will be looking for one again when we decide to "move up".

We have had very little problem with ours....even on cross country trips and all kinds of road surfaces. Just depends how you load the cabinets. We also like the rear kitchen for the extra counter space, and being out of the way when cooking a meal. It works great.

Thanks to everyone so far who have voiced their opinions/first hand knowledge. We really like the layout etc. Hopefully our '03 Cummins dually is up to the task!

We really liked that 25RKS floor plan till we sat in it a tried visualizing the two of us and any company + our dogs (3)It just seemed to get smaller. Sofa felt cramped with both of us and the location for the TV made it awkward to sit in the dinette and watch TV.

We ended up with the 26BHS - one more foot but the spaciousness was such a pay off. The bunk beds provide an option for storage and comfortable sleeping for when we have the kids. The open living area is very open and the entertainment center is located perfectly.
We spend lots of time inside it and it feels like a home

If you plan on only traveling with two and no other guests or family the 25 is a real nice layout but it did feel cramped after we compared it to the 26.

I tow with a Crew cab F150 4x4 5.4L and it handles the TT great. We pull up the I-5 Grapevine in California and have not a bit of trouble. Your big truck will handle either with no problems. Sway bar is a must!!

We really recommend the Jayco - very happy with our TT

Happy Traveling and good luck with your choice.
