Has anyone converted there older strut type bed lift to the new electric lifts? I'd like to convert mine, but don't have any information and costs involved in the project.
Thanks

Happijac seems to be the standard.
I did see one up close at the RV show this past weekend, and it's chain drive and does not appear to be cheaply made.
My wife had back surgery a few years ago, and I had a bad fall on my dirt bike 3 years ago, so coming down the latter on that last step is a painful process, especially at 3 a.m when nature calls.
Does anyone know the cost??
Thanks

you'll have to add some support. The happijac can only be purchased through a dealer so expect to pay out the @ss. I'd also talk to a service tech and they can let you know the scope of work that has to be done. The cheapest I was quoted was $1000.

I just recieved an email from Darin at Lippert Components stating that they do not offer an aftermarket system becuase of some special "blocking requirements" and the additional wiring requirements.
Now I can see the need for additional bracing of the wall support, but my WW already has four stout L-brackets for the front and a solid steel beam at the rear of the strut support, so I don't see that to be a show-stopper issue.
I smell liability concerns all over Darin's response.
Am I headed to a dead-end or are there any other mfg's out there that have such a system?
Thanks

don't forget about the bottom support. I don't think it would be a difficult project. I'd also make sure the measurements of the happijac frame work in your TH. since you have a WW (wood frame) you might not have to add the 1x2. Make sure the current supports match up with the happijac. Unfortunately I think that it will end up in the middle of my garage door. I was thinking of taking my problem to an Engineering School and see if they would work on a design maybe for a Senior project or something. Don't have the time or the resources to do it myself.
