In your second link, this text can be found... "Recreational vehicles are not CMVs subject to Federal size regulations (Figure 16)."

Yeah, go with that, you aren't subject to any width restrictions.

You are still subject to width regulations. I was attempting to link to national information, rather than get state-specific.

Obtrusive 'extension' (not extrusion), or not, anything beyond 102", that is not actually part of the mirror, is not legal.

My class C is 102" wall-to-wall, with the mirrors extending beyond that.

Those plugs will look real nice...

wow... send the cops and the grammar police. I'm sorry about those that hurt you in life, but "rolling eyes" is straight up rude, and those that you pass your anger on to don't deserve it.

If you find the rolling eyes rude, talk to the moderators, they provided them.

Again, it doesn't matter if it doesn't even stick out beyond your mirrors. If the antenna is beyond the 102" width of the 'vehicle', then it's illegal.

It could be attached to the 'back' of the mirror, so that it doesn't stick out at all, and it would still be illegal. Only the mirror can be beyond the 102" width of the vehicle.

It doesn't get much more straight forward then this.

(still need to paint bracket and finish heat shrink and will probably return antenna for a white one)
You will need to run a ground wire to that bracket or you will not ever get the standing wave out of the radio.

Thanks oldtrucker! That validates me a little! The one wire that's looped up to the bracket is a ground I ran a second wire out for, and the dangling wire still needs the pl259 connector that I'm learning how to crimp and solder. I tested the ground to the negative battery terminal for continuity?? and got 0.000 so my frame point I found under a kick panel was good. Hopefully. I haven't hooked up the radio yet, maybe this weekend I'll get it all together.
