High Falls SP – Jackson, GA – 10/19/2007 thru 10/21/2007
• Participants: Ashley, Kim, Dave, Rob, Jen, Emma, Trevor
• Campground Rating: 4 (out of 5)
• Rating reasons / About the campground: sparse camp store but did have shop n' rob right across the road, nice hiking trails next to falls downstream of the dam, pretty lake (horsepower restricted to 10 HP)
• Campsite number: 115 (Rob on 112)
• About our trip: I left a little earlier than Rob and secured us a couple of sites across the road from each other.
NL at site 115 and Rob at site 112:
Kim came down after she left work. Kim's aunt and uncle own a house on High Falls Lake so they were nice enough to let us borrow their pontoon boat for the day.
Pontoon boat tied to shore:
Ashley cheers for the MYA Georgia Bulldogs MightyMites and she had a game Saturday morning at 9:00am. We won the game 20-0. The final score doesn't show what a good team we played - I would say the toughest game other than our 1 loss to ELCA. After we arrived back at the campground, we went out on the boat for a leisurely cruise around the lake. Gary, Laurie, Stevie, and Dillion joined us in the afternoon and stayed through dinner (unfortunately, Gary had to work on Sunday morning so they had to leave right after dinner). Sunday we packed up then went on a hike down below the dam next to the falls. There were two trails, a 1.5 mile and a 2.5 mile. We went on the shorter hike, which ran next to the river. A nice hike and very pretty.
The falls and during our hike:
Of course, during our hike, Ashley had to check the water temperature by falling in the river. Happens every time!
Thankfully, the children complained very little about hiking. Overall, a good trip although it seemed very short due to the fact that we came halfway back home for the game and then almost all the way back to our house so that Ashley could eat at CiCi's pizza with the rest of the cheerleaders and football players. Dave.

One other thing...If you have the time Dauset Trails Nature Center is a great place to visit while you're staying at either High Falls SP or Indian Springs SP. About 5-10 minutes away from both campgrounds. Dave.
Even though I've never heard of it happening I just don't want to stay in High Falls since it's so close to the Prison in Jackson where the worst of the worst criminals are and where they execute some sometimes.
