I'm new to RV'ing and have stick 2007 Ford Fusion as a toad. The owners manual says to leave the ignition off and the steering wheel lock off. To me, this infers that you leave the key in the ignition. Am I correct or do you remove the key and hope the steering wheel doesn't turn far enough to engage the lock. I would appreciate any input or experience. Thanks.
You leave the key in the ignition, and the steering wheel unlocked.
You should get a couple of extra keys and keep one in the motor home, used just to unlock the towd car door.
Not sure about Fords, but on GMCs, you can have a key made without the digital encoding. It will unlock the steering, but can not be used to start the engine.

Remember you are only young once,
but you can be immature fotrever!
Thanks folks, I went to my Ford dealer and had a key made which opens the door as well as unlocking the steering column. It will not start the engine. I also had one made that has the chip for starting which I programmed. I'll be keeping both in the MH and will get a spare set of MH door keys to keep hidden in the toad. Thanks again for the feedback.
