We are hopefully buying a brand new Keystone Cougar from the states but it is not C.S.A. approved; can r.v. dealers/service work on these trailers; I was told by one salesmen here in the province who sells Keystone that they can't.
Thanks

There is a complete process you have to go through to get it aproved after you import the trailer. Go to Canada Customs site to see what paperwork is involved. for the warranty part I suggest you Email Keystone directly as it will vary between companies. Also remember your local dealer will not likely put you ahead of the guy who puchased a unit from him when you need work done.

I brought a Wells Cargo Trailer into Canada acouple yeasrs ago. Mine was brand new. And I had no problems the only question was did it have it's own braking system and brake away. With yes to these 2 questions they said have a nice day. (Aftre paying the GST / PST) U may have other issues due to propane etc.

The website www.riv.ca will give you all the information you need. I bought my Cedar Creek in Michigan and had warranty work done in Ontario. There was no issue with the CSA approval on the propane system as they are all built to be sold in either the US or Canada. I did not have to do anything to the trailer to get it to pass.

The only diffrence between USA and a CSA built RV is following the wiring/plumbing codes. CSA has nothing to do with the administration of warranty or working on them. That salesman was trying to scare you into believing you would be buying a orphan.

CSA is not a requirement for importing an RV. That is an old restriction that no longer applies. CSA has become reduntant and you will notice that many appliances, TV's and other electronic items no longer carry that approval.

Don't know how things work for a Canadian Citizen, but 2 years ago we had a problem coming down from Alaska, and a Freightliner dealer in Red Deer fixed us right up. I thought I might have some charges even though the repair should have been done under warranty, but all I got was a smile, and "it's all taken care of" along with best wishes for the rest of the trip. A real class act.

Another Dealer running Scared of the Exchange rate!
CSA Used to be Canadian Standards Association Now I'm Not sure what it stands for as it is used Everywhere in the World, to indicate that a product meets a certain Standard of Manufacture!Kind of like the CE Approval on Cameras Etc.
We Have Never had a problem getting Service on Our USA Purchased RV's!

Thanks for the replies, I got thinking that if our friends to the south had problems up here during the summer would they have to drive all the way back to the states to get work done? I can't see that. I did phone Keystone yesterday and the girl said she didn't know and that I would have to talk to an official up here.

Late today I talked with my dealer in the U.S. and everything will be looked after either up here or down there by Keystone in respect to the warranty.
Thanks again.
