When I bought my Seneca they told me it had the optional inverter. I really hadn't asked about how it worked, but just decided to check further into it since I am taking several trips shortly.
My owners manual is missing pages 9 through 28, where the information on the inverter is... I called the dealer and they were of no help. I even called Jayco and was told they were very shorthanded and would call me back within the next week.... thanks.
I can not turn on the TV/DVD unless plugged in to shore power or have the generator on. I do have a breaker in the box, #10, labeled INVERTER. I can not find the inverter, I took off the small ventilated wood door next to the fuse & breaker boxes, but there is nothing there. I found the converter under the drawer right next to the door I removed, but no inverter. I did find two large, possibly 6 gauge, wires just hanging loose behind that vented door, one black and one white. There is also a small multi-conductor wire like a phone or cat 5 wire hanging loose in there.
Is there some trick to making the inverter work or did they forget to install it? I do not find any 12 volt fuse labeled as being for the inverter, just the 120 breaker.
Again, any input is greatly appreciated.

TIA

John

I would find a Winnebago approved RV repair shop or dealer that can look at this. From your description, I would say you were short changed.

I have a Seneca HD 35 GS. The inverter is in the bedroom, at the bottom of the chest of drawers. (Visible at the floor level.) Above the inverter is the fuse panel. There is a plastic cover over the fuses and immediately below that is another plastic cover which accesses the inverter circuit breakers and the inverter. You didn't specify the model Seneca but I hope this description will be of assistance.

You need to turn the inverter on to use it. It will draw a small amount of current all the time if it is not off. To turn it on there should be a small black rocker switch near the other controls for your coach. On my 35GS this switch is next to the thermostat in the control center. When it is on there will be a small green light in the rocker switch which is lit to tell you it is on.

From your description of the loose wires I would say that it was never installed. Mine is next to the converter and has the telephone style cord connecter to the remote switch I referenced in my previous post.

I don't know if Jayco forgot to put it in or if the salesman lied about it being equipped with one (salesmen wouldn't do that, would they?) but it's not there. The switch isn't there, just a black block-off plate. I'm sure the wires I'm seeing are for the inverter. What blows my mind is why would the breaker be there for it if it wasn't supposed to have been installed? Do they go that far in prepping for one if you decide to install one later?

Don't ya love it. They will tell you anything for a sale. IMHO I would make them honor what was said if you really want the inverter. It won't hurt to try......... BEST OF LUCK, Jim

I didn't get the retail sticker, but I did talk to Jayco today. It didn't come with the inverter, the salesman (to give him the benefit of the doubt) was wrong. I called him also, no luck on getting one unless I "have it in writing" that it was supposed to have it.
On the plus side, Jayco is replacing my rear springs with 19,000# springs due to sagging. I literally ripped the jack off of my motorcycle trailer it is sagging so badly. They will even pay to have the tongue & jack on the trailer fixed.
