So with the Gov. change to digital TV broadcasting in Feb. of 2009, I'm assuming that the antenna on the roof of our campers will now be obsolete. I know that there are set top boxes that can be purchased so one can still receive the signal with analog TV, but is there anything that can be added so the antenna can still be used?

Good news... the antenna will work fine to receive HD digital broadcasts. I did it with mine just a couple of months ago. And the great news is you will probably get better reception and more stations than analog.

Your antenna will work for HD just fine. HD signals are broadcast in the same spectrum as today's UHF 20-80 channel range. Same frequency spectrum = same antenna.....

My understanding is that all you need is a digital tuner on your tv set. The actual antenna will pick up the signal.

Using mine right now and the picture looks great!

And the mythical digital set top tuner. Has anyone actually seen one of those in a store yet? Everyone's supposed to get a coupon or credit or something to help buy one right?

You can get two $40.00 off coupons for the purchase of the box. They will be available after Jan 1, 2008

Yes, the "boxes" are available at Walmart for about 200.00. You only need them if you have an analog set. The new TV's manufactured from March 2007 on have the digital tuner "box" in them. Boxes are also available off of ebay for about 50-70 dollars. I purchased 3 and have had NO problems - easy to install. Yes, you do receive more channels (subchannels off the main channel). Picture is clearer. Wait a few months - price should come DOWN! Gov't MAY give coupons away worth 40 bucks each for the purchase of a "box".

Antennas do not care about how the signal is broadcast, digital or analog. They only care about the frequency and those are not changing.
