I retired, sold house, moved into 5'er all in the same day. It was all carefully planned ahead lol. My mind was made up for sure about a year before retirement. Due to an injury on the job it was a mute point, but it was my dream anyway.

Will you live your Dream looking out the backyard window?

I have not fulltimed yet, keep talking about it. Last week decided that enough of the rat race. Placed my house up for sale and told the realtor I just wanted it gone. Tired of of listening to people wine at work, listening to everyone say I want or I got to have more, then come home to taxes going up, utilities going up, got have a new car, new house, new whatever, what little free time I have I worried about what will happen tomorrow concerning what happened today. So enough is enough, I put the house on the market signed a contract with a realtor. Came to a realization that life is to short to worry about the small Sh@#T! Hope it sales quick because I have had it. Family thinks I've dropped of the deep end but you have to start somewhere. Best of luck.

Mine was when I realized that I did not want to spend the rest of my life tied to the farm in the desert. We could have left the farm, but there was a world out there waiting for us to find it. So, knowing we would not stay there past retirement, we chucked it all, hit the road looking for the "perfect" place, and are still looking

We have found so many places, that it is hard to decide

After my elderly father died in July 2000 (he lived with us his last three years), we had no travel restrictions except our business. When another company offered to buy us out, we agreed and put our house on the market. The house sold quickly too. We decided to set out in the mh and see where we ended up. That was seven years ago this month. We traded mhs (three times) to end up with our fiver to get the rig that best fit our lifestyle. Things have evolved. We don't roam the countryside, but have a specific route we follow every year (with occasional deviations). We look forward to each season and its location with friends & family.

We both retired 2+ years before going full time. The catalyst was caused by us moving to a new area that we'd dreamed about living in and discovering it wasn't for us. We put the house on the market, cleaned it out (sold it twice but have lost the sales), closed the house up, and have been on the road since Oct. 8. We LOVE it.....!!!!

I highly suggest you read RV.Dreams.com those folks will give you a lot of info. We had a 5th wheel prior to selling our house, then sold the house and went full timing and dearly Loved full timing and due to Medical issue's with DW's Mom we quit full timing. Had another house build and lived in the 5er until we finished the house, and just sold the 5er. Its only been gone two weeks and we miss it very bad. But in our situation we think we made the right decision. We were just using the 5er for when the kids and grand kids came down to visit. We hope some day to get another 5er.

Take your time and RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH. Its a big jump to go full timing. But its a wonderful live, and see this beautiful Country we live in up close and personal. And you can pick your neighbors. Good Luck. GBY....

Best advice anyone could give! Ad the word/task of "Plan" and you have the winning combo!

I was fortunate enough to retire @ 50 and wife worked part time after that mostly for something to do - I still haven't had a day when I wondered "what am I going to do today." Had been heading down to S. Cal and Arizona early January for last 3 years. This year after being run out of Palm Springs by the heat in late February and on to the coast near Santa Barbara for a spell we headed up out of Placerville. We were sitting there overlooking the river and the green hills having a cold one or two lamenting that the only reason we needed to head north was to do taxes and tend to the house. It occurred to us that we could do extensions and only are at the house periodically during the summer anyway - lets sell and full time.

Returned to Oregon, sold the house in a day. After the yard sale and a trip to Washington to deliver some things our children wanted we put a few things and antique car in storage and have been gone since. Upgraded from 32' Adventurer to 36' Phaeton which we love. Most appealing is the fact that you can change your surroundings from desert to beach to mountain lakes in only a day or two. Life is great!
