Bumpy, how do you have a no contract with Dish?
I bought all my own gear also. But with Dish or with Direct, you HAVE to have a contract for the service. Are you stealing your service with a pirate box and card? Hmmmm.

Like I said I bought all of my equipment from sams, etc. and have complete service with no contract. I do not appreciate being told that I "steal" my service, however.

and the multiple sat. whining is nonsense.
if you want HD on direct, you will need more than one sat. why does direct offer dishes with up to 5 LNBs?

We have both DirecTV and cable in our home and have an extra receiver that is legally in the MH (Costs $4.99 a month during the season MH is used.) I prefer DirecTV because of their superior sports programming. My "Sports Package" cost $12 a month and has around 30 additional sports channels, including the regional stations like all of the Fox Sports Nets, Comcast, YES, MSG, Sunshine, Golf and NBA TV, etc. Most of those are now in HD, but we do not yet have HD in MH.

so when you want that extra service that you are paying for, you will need to hit multiple sats.

You are exactly correct Bumpy. Direct does require 5 LNBs for some setups. The OP did not state if HD is one of the viewing requirements. If it is then 5 LNBs may be a problem if they have a dome antenna. I am not aware of any reasonably priced domes that can handle 5 LNBs. If they have one of the expensive Motosat type antennas or carry a ground based setup then HD viewing could be possible. If HD viewing is not a requirement then either Dish or Direct will work. I have used both with equal success with a dome antenna. I'm not trying to pick a fight here, just help the OP make a decision. If the OP is using a dome and HD is a requirement then I would wait a little while until the dome manufacturers come up with a solution for Direct's HD setup, if they haven't already. If HD is not a requirement then it would be a personal choice.

Dish once cut me off since I had four rec (one in the coach)

I called they said to go to each rec and give them codes off of each TV

told them coach was in storage they said sorry they were going to record that rec so that it would never be able to be registered again. It was a DVR rec. they said I need sep account for coach. Told them just cancel effective NOW. and refund me! NOW I paid yearly NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE DISH PERIOD !!!

Direct has been great !!!! Say NO TO DISH NETWORK !!!!

I was a loyal Dish customer for over 10 years... I won't ever use them again, because the customer service and account management sucks. Their customer service mainly resides overseas (India, Philippines) and you can't understand the customer care rep. I found that you need to make multiple calls to get someone here in the states. AVOID DISHNETWORK.

I may be wrong...I have been twice before....But

I think I read on the KVH Web Site that they have a Multi-Head LNB set up on one of their Dome Systems. About another Grand as I recall for the Heads and electronics.
We have KVH In Motion and DirecTV and are very happy with the System.
It was difficult to get them to understand that we were closing out our House Account and going Full Time when we did it but since then things are working out well. We have East and West and can subscribe to Locals if we want to pay the price and constantly call in to change our LOCATION ADDRESS so we can get Locals. Our Mail/Billing Address never changes but by changing the Service Address we can get what ever we want.
Example. One day we wanted to watch the Yankees (don't ask me why) but they were telling me it was not available in my veiwing area. I called and changed my Service Address to a camp ground in Pennsylvania and we got the game. We were in Cape Cod. We called that evening and changed our Service address back to the Cape and watched the Red Sox. Crazy but that is how they deliver the service.

To the OP. If your DW wants Dish and you want Direct then leave the House on Dish and get Direct only for your Camping Unit. Then you can really weigh one against the other and you might sway her into the Directv for both later.

Good Luck

Dish Net is the boss!!! I had Direct for years but moved up to Dish. Best move we made! Setting up the portable dish in the CG even wooded areas is easy. Plenty of coax and no problem. Way more user friendly features than Direct. Everyone has their favorites, Dish happens to be ours. At first two sats were a bit troublesome to find, but after a few trips, it's as easy as following off a log.

Wineguard will have a 5 lnb pop up for Direct TV, and a 3 lnb pop up for Dish out this mth. No dome units can handle the DTV five satellite alignment as yet.
I take the 5 lnb on a tripod. It uses two coaxial cables if you want to use the full dvr feature with the reciever. Additional cables for extra TVs. Splitters don't work with this dish. Cable has to be RG6 solid copper, not copper coated steel. The dish is a big one. It really sets up easy though with a quality signal meter. I was intimidated at first, but, 10-15 minutes and it's lined up. Get all the HD, DVR on two channels, sports packages, and PPV. They even have interactive games.

don't know if you can get only ESPN2, I got OLN added on for $1.50 IIRC to my dish account.
