I'm searching for a unit which works the main door on a class-A, and I'm interested in having keyless access for only the deadbolt. The handle-mounted lock hasn't had a lock cylinder in it for years, and it's pretty weak, anyway.

I know remote locking/unlocking has become almost common on newer machines, but our lower-end diesel pusher Bounder wouldn't ever likely come with something so 'ritzy'.

I don't need or want a remote keypad, just a remote control like what we've had on automobiles for a couple of decades, now.

I look at it as more conveinence than anything, as it's much easier to push a button on a remote than to put a key into the lock when you have armfuls of groceries.

Thanks!

This would be handy, although campgrounds are such safe environments, we seldom lock the MH during daylight hours.

You're rather trusting of your fellow man.

Here in Vegas, in a gated-community RV resort, I still don't leave the rig unlocked. I don't lock our bicycles to anything, but that's about it.

Yeah, I was looking at that, and there's plenty of room in the door...I might could work up something which is a cam driven by what amounts to an automobile power lock switch controlled by an RF remote.

I was hoping someone had invented an add-on type of unit. Maybe that'll be me....

Yes, added after market electric locks to a truck once. Big mistake. Had nothing but endless problems. Ended up ripping it all out and throwing it away.

Yeah, the more I thought about it, the less it was likely to work without incessant problems. Probably small ones, but they're just as annoying as the large ones, as you think they'll eventually go away.

Actually Lowes sells the battery operated, remote control deadbolts. Designed for a house for sure, but it can be installed on an RV. My wife the handly lady installed ours iN Charelston on our house. We had a keychain remote control just like the car doohicky and it was reat for having an armload of groceries as you approached the house. Press button and hte noisy contraption unlocked. Never failed, batteries lasted well over 2 years. Then we sold house.

Thanks for telling me about this, as I'd given up. I'll likely swing by Lowe's this week for other things, so I'll have to give it a look-see!
