Hello,
I know this has been discussed and I have looked at searches of past post but, I have three weeks to kill next July and I want to do it in Utah. What is the best place to stay when riding the Paiute trail systems? I thought about Marysvale but, after reading, there seems to be a lot of great places. I biggest requirement would be I have to be able to ride out of camp and I need to stay at an RV park as I do not have large tanks on my camper. Also, what are some of the helpful hints and must do's to having a great time? Any can't live without Maps, GPS, Must see places, other places in Utah with good trails? I have three full size 4x4's so we don't do as much sand as some. Thank you all for your inputs.
Marysvale is great....Lizzies and Charles Place.....ride from camp to trail direct...Check out ATV Utah and you can find a lot of great info.....ATVUtah.com.......
I would suggest the Moab area and also near Bryce Canyon. We rode both those areas 2 years ago in September and had a great time. Moab may be hot in July, but the Bryce area has some elevation and should be cooler. Castro Canyon & Pine Lake/Powell Point are must do rides in the BC area. If you decide to do Moab, I can also suggest several great atv rides.

Check out the Adventure Caravans Grand Circle Tour of the Western Parks to see their itinerary. They start out in St. George, UT and go from there. The beautiful Snow Canyon is in St. George and is one of their best kept secrets. There are other attractions in St. George having to do with the Mormon's who, by the way, own most of Utah.

I have never stayed at the KOA in Richfield but understand you must push or haul your ATVs outside the park before starting them although Richfield is ATV friendly as are most of the towns in the valley. From Marysvale you can ride in 4 directions and go high or stay low. If you have never been to Moab it would be a shame to miss it since it's only a few miles off I70. Arch's View RV Park just north of Moab is great to ride from with trails that take days to ride. If you can dry camp for 1 night there are many places off I70 between Moab and Marysvale with spectacular rides.

Marysvale is a very good place to ride out of...There is another campground about 8 miles north of Marysvale called Big rock candy mountain where we always stay and you can ride 'til your wheels fall off your machines...it's a nice place to stay and you can ride in any direction from the campground...the campground is located right next to a river, the gas station is right on the premises and across the highway there's the big rock candy restaurant where you'll never walk away hungry...the campground sits in a beautiful setting...my wife and i go there every year for our riding...super riding and a nice place to stay...Happpy riding.....The snow man
The beatiful MONSTER that takes my wife and I anywhere we want to go...2005 Jayco granite ridge...Overhead entertainment center, slide out, and a snowmobile trailer that pulls 2 four wheelers in the summer and 2 snowmobiles in the winter..Life is great!
Our family camped and rode at several locations in Utah this past summer, Paiute Trail, Bryce Canyon, Coral Pink Dunes and near Zion. GPS isn't required, though the maps of the area are. Read up on the Utah ATV Laws before you go and get any permits well in advance.
For riding the Paiute trail we stayed at Lizzie & Charlie's its an RV park but I wouldn't say its a great one but it has one key feature that's that you can right out of camp to access the trail system as well as riding through town for a gas and other basics. As far as RV parks go its not great, all gravel, utilities are a bit uncooperative, and the sits are pretty tight in some areas. You need to get one thing, and that is the newest edition of the National Geographic Paiute ATV Trail System Map - that map is a must have. You can buy it there or many other places, National Geographic is one location. Also, go ahead and bookmark Marysvale.org there is a good bit of information and a dedicated forum for riding the Paiute.
I enjoyed the Paiute trail, however I think I enjoyed riding the trails around Bryce Canyon more in some ways. If you have the time, do both. We stayed at Rubys Inn, RV & CampgroundRuby's Inn. Campground was gravel as well but more sites were level it seemed and more space between them. They also had a pool. Ruby's has a whole page of ATV Maps you can download, and they will give you copies when you check in as well.
