Man this would be a heavy load to bear. I don't want to even think about it. I would probably miss every turn and every stop light without her "guidance".

Rather than rattle around in the class A alone, I think I'd downsize to something more my size.

Something to carry my Harley and pull the Jeep. Might consider a toyhauler and trade both Jeeps for a toyhauler tow vehicle. I prefer pickup trucks, anyway.

Or I might just downsize to a trailer behind the Harley...

But I don't think I'd stop RVing -- it's just too much fun.

I lost my wife to cancer in 1994. I had a traveling companion for several years but now I'm going it alone. Traveling alone isn't near as much fun. I'm glad I have the truck camper rig. I've bought a Garmin GPS to help find my way. Hopefully leaving for Alaska for 3-4 months after I retire in 3/09. I carry two fold up lawn chairs just in case I meet a Lady who enjoys the rv lifestyle and me...

It is interesting (albeit a bit sad, of course) to read of everyones' experiences with this and the resulting (and different) paths people take after losing a spouse. Thanks for sharing.

I lost my mate in Walmart, but she caught up before I could get out of the parking lot.

My late wife died unexpectedly 12 years ago this month. We loved camping -- everything about it. We had planned to start fulltiming soon (although I'd never heard the term). The first couple years after her death I travelled all over the country trying to run from the pain, from the east coast (several times) to the west coast (several times), from Texas to Alaska. Camping wasn't fun; sightseeing wasn't fun; even photography (our avid hobby) was no longer fun. If I saw beautiful scenery it made me sad, as I wanted to share it with her.

Then I met my (now) wife, and it's all fun again. I'd never told her of my previous plans to fulltime, and then last summer we came up with the idea together. We plan to sell the house and start fulltiming just as soon as I can get all the business ends tied up (probably next summer). If she were to die, I don't know what I'd do. We mostly enjoy camping because of each other. I'm sure I'd continue camping, but probably not do it full time.

Unfortunately I have experienced the lost of my spouse after 39 years and 4 MHs so I know how gardening gurl fells/felt. We had just purchased a new to us unit when she unexpectly passed. It took a full year and a half just to go back into to the coach; it was our life to be. After several years, I have met a new soulmate who never had been RVing but aways wanted to do so. Her husband too had passed. We're awaiting the delivery of a new coach inorder to start fulltiming or 3/4 timing in August. I've been fortunate to find this lady to share this passion with. See you guys out on the road.

Since I don't know how to hook up, tow or back up the trailer, I would downsize to a small Class C or a B and keep on going.
We have wonderful friends that we always camp with, so I know I would have company, though not the same without my very best friend (DH). I would also like to travel to see the kids who are spread from coast to coast.
DH would keep going, he has never minded being alone and camped solo quite a bit before we met. He would be fine.

I wouldn't RV anymore if something happened to my wife. I'd go back to tent camping. Thats how I really like to camp and pretty much gave it up when my wife decided she wanted a trailer.
