Did the searches both here and Park Reviews. Both look interesting. Anybody else have any comments they would care to share?

Stayed at the KOA. Nice but not fancy. Office staff was a great help with places to eat and visit. We toured the R.W. Norton museum. It's free and lots of Remington statues.

We were less than impressed w/KOA. Narrow sites and interior roads, no shade, inconvenient utility placement. We were just there for an overnight to meet friends but would not go back.

Never been to the KOA (just don't like them in general), but have been to Diamond Jacks RV Park. Nice park and if you gamble enough, they will comp your site fee.

I stayed at the Shreveport KOA in 2003, it was okay for an overnighter. I usually stay at the KOA at the Kelley truck stop west of Shreveport. I'm usually only there for a night or two.
As far as I know there is only one casino RV park in Bossier so if that is true, I went to the Diamond Jacks Casino RV Park in Jan 2006 and would have moved over to there, but they were booked up. It looked secure and the bath house was nice and clean. I would have had no problems staying there.
The lady at the desk was not real friendly. She did say they stay booked up most of the time.

Thx. to all. Think we might check with Diamond Jacks to see if we can possibly get a site for that leg of our trip. Maybe we'll have won enough during our first stop in Tunica to do some serious playing there. Might as well help out the Louisiana economy after helping Mississippi's.

I have stayed at DIamond Jacks. it is close to the river and the train and highway but it is a wonderful campground if you are self contained. It has wide concrete spots with cable and full hookups. Nice place though it tends to be full on weekends. We stay there on our way east and west to dump the tanks and to fill and to spend a day just resting.

"Free," looks like you're taking the same trip we just did! We also stayed at the Shreveport KOA just last week (in a cabin, actually) and we liked it just about the best of any of the 6 KOAs we stayed at during this trip. Owners are very friendly, and if you want/need any parts or accessories for your RV, they have the most complete store of such things that we've ever seen at a CG. They have put a lot of improvements into the place. Yes, it doesn't have a lot of shade (but this time of year that won't matter) and sites are typical KOA-tight, but the place is clean and road noise isn't terrible. And the cable TV is free (should you use it) - first time we've ever encountered a CG cabin with TV PROVIDED, no charge! Get a site close to the office or just behind it for less road noise. The pool's even open (but not heated). Hot tub available for the CG. Some longtermers who work in the area, but their rigs are kept tidy, not junky, and tend to be all in one area of the CG. Unless you're into casinos, I'd recommend staying here.
If you're heading here to/from I-30, I'd recommend taking Rte 3 (LA)/29 (AR), which connects with I-30 at or near Hope. Our friends who live in Shreveport suggested this route and it worked well for us, though it's mostly 2-lane. Hardly any traffic on a Monday.

We stay at Diamond Jack's (formerly Isle of Capri) when we visit our daughter and family at Barksdale AFB. It's nice and clean, and easily accessible. The concrete pads are level, and all I believe all sites have FHU including cable. There are small trees and little shade, and as mentioned above, the railroad track provides noise several times during the night -- not freights roaring through, but cars moving slowly and banging together to cross the bridge adjacent to the CG. We've stayed there at least 8-10 times and keep coming back for the convenience and the very friendly staff.
