By the way it isn't a Jake Brake the new ones come with, it is a exhaust brake. There is a difference in the way they work. I am pretty sure the Dodge one does not lift the valves but I have been wrong before, I lost count how many times. LOL
I could also be wrong, but I believe the exhaust brake is standard on the new 6.7L CTD engines for 2007 & 2008 model Ram trucks. And as far as I know, it does not lift the valves. While being very effective, it is actually very quiet during operation.
The exhaust brake is standard on all 6.7 engines. It uses a sliding collar in the turbo for braking, everything to due with the brake is in the turbo. Does nothing with the valves.
I was waiting for something to go wrong with my 07.5 after reading the turbo diesel forum but nothing except one mpg less than my 02. Also I quit reading the TBR and fell much better a lot of doom & gloom in there. It handles the 08 1181 very nice with a set of supersprings.
