Absolutely, go to the Pacific Northwest, just make reservations in plenty of time. Oh, BTW we have ours.

"Sunbirds" is what they are called. But if you think going to MN or those types of states, be ready for heat just like in TX. The best to go to is the CO "high country" or the WA, OR or the No.CA coast. Even they get hot sometimes.
Timing is everything!

Frank, have you ever been to NE Minnesota??

I don't think so...........

NE Minnesota is in the '70's in July & August. It gets my vote.

Hey Catfishman,
If ya really want to chill out, come up here to America's Icebox!

No suffocating summer heat here...hottest it gets here usually is 80 degrees on a really hot day!

If you want to wear a jacket all summer, try San Francisco. Cool but mostly shirt sleeve try the Olympic Peninsula or Vancouver Island. 'Course, I remember one Super Bowl Sunday 30 years ago where it was warmer in Anchorage than Dallas at game time.

jwduke,
I worked for Sprint in St. Paul and the summer I was there was the hottest and driest on record (1988) and I can tell you stories about living in a trailer that made me wish I were elsewhere. My poor DW suffered immensely in it while I worked in cool comfort. But I did NOT get to the NE part of the state.

Yep, we get our 90 degree days here in MN also. Sometimes it last for up to a week or so. The trick is to be either around Lake Superior (water is 35 degrees all year) or in a nicely wooded area (natures air conditioner.) I would choose the later, of course then you have to deal with the bugs.

All of a sudden that high country in Colorado is sounding pretty good. Never been there so can't say. But do try to swing thru the UP of Michigan across Northern Wisconsin and then Minnesota in late August/September. No place prettier or friendlier, IMHO.

We spent the better part of June in Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota - all in the Mountains/Hills....

It was beautiful - COOL/Cold and NO BUGS!!

It is something we toy with, but have yet to find the "perfect" location, which may just mean that we rotate it Nothing like vacationing and getting to see new sights.

Let us know what you find out - will be watching this thread with interest!

NE Minnesota cool? The last really long RV trip I took was up the northern shores of Lake Superior (and on to Maine). My brother, who lives in Minneapolis, told me when we stopped there for a day in 101 degree heat, that it would be nice as soon as we got to Lake Superior. Oooooooooookay. Well, it never got past 105! That was at the very northern point of the lake in Canada. We camped on the lake every night, but it was only cool within 20 feet of the water, and it was tough finding camping spots THAT close. We were in a pickup camper without air conditioning. And bugs? Oh baby! They were crawling through our screens.

I'll take the high elevations of the mountain states or the NW coast any time. And Alaska has GREAT summers!!!!!

The DW and I have lived here in Arizona for 15 years now. We like the fact that we have a family of bob cats living on our roof, javelina in the back yard, and rabits, quail and coyotes all over the place. BUT when the temp goes over 110 we head north. We have always called ourselves SUN BIRDS and enjoy the Northern Cal.,Oregon, Washington coastal areas for the June through September time period. One of these days we may go to the north east for the summer but we have made so many good friends in the north west its hard to change.
Cave Creek is a lot cooler than the valley, lived there in 1976 and again in 1985 for 15 years. Use to be a lot more wild life. Deer,Owls,Rattle Snakes, lot of rattle snakes.Gila Monsters, Corral snakes. Seen them all when we live their north of Cave Creek. The biggest snakes are in town hall.
