Its great reading everyones posts.
Mike and I are in the process of getting our (2000) 30 foot MH and I am so looking forward to the freedom it will represent us.
Mike has been a quadriplegic since breaking his neck in a diving incident 20 years ago and is in an electric wheelchair . He has no movement from the bicept down so traveling anywhere is a lot of work for me. The MH has a ramp and built in shower.
We have been so limited on where we travel as it is an ordeal to pack everything into the van and then into a hotel only to pack up and do it over again.
I am a bit afraid as I have to be the driver ect (scared we will brake down and be stuck as Mike can only get out the one door) and never have driven anything this big.
I know it is going to be Awesome though and cant wait to start are journeys.

What a great post to read. I enjoy the positive responses. My wife has MS also. You would not know it by looking at her. The heat effects her most and she gets extremly tired when its hot. We did not camp for years until we bought our RV.

We don't use the HC sites and don't have any lic plates or placards. We feel that there are people that need those spaces far more than we do. On the other hand we get harrased for being young (wife is 30) and having an RV. They tell us that, "that is not camping" and blah blah blah. We just explain to them why we need the RV and the air conditioning while camping and more often than not we get the "i don't get it" stare. Our friends all have thier tents and we all dont camp much together.

we just take our time and relax a bit more than other campers, but is'nt that what its all about?

It's a real learning experience, no doubt about it! I creeped into an empty slot in a big park on the edge of a relapse. Never even made it to the office to pay up yet. I imagine they'll be perturbed with me. Nothin' I can do about it for now, so nothin' to fret over, either.

Love what you're doing, Vanislegirl! I always wondered why they build those adaptive trailers like they should always be tethered to the house. I can never quite figure out whether they don't think c-4's belong on the road,or don't belong in the house. That's what we need - a semi-permanent rolling rally at a nice park with a traveling LVN who can pitch in here and there.

I saw 3 people who were severely disabled in wheelchairs while in Alaska and on the way home. They seemed to do very well. One woman mentioned that she and her husband who was paralyzed (not sure of extent) had a quick exit drill from the motor home. She would not make the trip until they had that down just in case of fire or other emergency.

Good luck and enjoy your travels.
