The reason I asked was, I have bags on mine. I had a 6000 lb. camper for a couple of months. Even with the bags it squatted in the rear a bit. I am going to buy another TH soon. I do not want the bags if not needed, as they stiffen up the ride empty. Looking for people that pull 40+ ft. with a 450. Thanks.

I am towing a 41'CKS KZ Escalade which is about 42.6 to pin front. The 450 does not need air bags to handle this unit. My unit weights about 19,000 loaded. I also have the 5th airborne pin box.

Hi
I don't have a F-450 yet but I do run air bags on my F-350. The air bags ride a lot better when towing. I set air pressure at 50 psi without trailer. With trailer hooked up pressure goes up to 70 psi just from the pin weight. When I don't tow I run 5 pounds of air, ride is ok with lower air. I don't have the onboard air compressor just a portable.

I borrowed my dads 08 f-450 to tow my trailer, SLC3905 and it squatted the back enough that every person I passed flashed there brights at me. When my 450 comes in I will put bags on it to keep it level. By the way the truck was barely on the overload springs. These trucks sit just about level empty.

I have the pictures of my unit and truck in the sig. I do have the camper package. Maybe you should check to see if your dads truck was ordered with one.

I still have not installed my hitch in my 08 F-450 But I do see an issue. Dieselgem's truck is not 4X4 so it will sit level when loaded, like my old F-350 (in profile) Mine is 4X4 so it may need to be bagged. Have to wait after holidays now for hitch install.

My truck is a 4x4. In response to another owner complaining about squat on a 450 in the dieselstop forum several posters have replied that they do not have a problem. Several of them are towing heavy equipment. I am not sure what the difference is but I would try it before buying air bags . The truck rides, handles and tows great for my 2cents. I would have to be sure of a problem before making that change.

Talon suspension systems This is what I'm going to replace my springs with. Mine rides real rough on springs and sits too high for the trailer to ride level. I should be able to lower my truck to make everything level with this kit once they make it for the F550. Even though my truck is a 2wd, the bed sits at almost 60" high.
