Get the slide. We very much love our current unit, and at the time we bought it in May I rationalized not spending the extra $4,000 for the step up model with the slide and little extra length. Now, less than a year later, that same unit, one year newer, was quoted to be $8,000 plus my trade.

I'd prefer a slide. I'd prefer the Rockwood. I'd prefer new over used. Not sure how that balances but I have to think that those are NOT the only choices you have. I NEVER assume all the cards are on the table
In the "for what it's worth" department, the slide on most 7.5 foot Rockwoods is only about 18" deep or so and this would balance the comparison somewhat.

Get the slide. We've had both and I would never go back to one without, the increase in space is fantastic

Another vote for the slide. We have a sofa slide and the same basic floorplan without the slide seemed so much smaller. Ours is only about 18" deep but it makes a lot of difference.

I vote for new and a slide. I saw in your sig that you have two small children and boy will they grow over the next couple of years. the extra room a slide will allow will make the difference for both you and the DW's sanity. We bought a hybrid Rockwood 23SS with a slide but when several of the children went along even that was not big enough. After four or five trips the DW said she wanted space. We now have a 31 foot with a super deep slide and rear living room. That is all the space you need. I tell that story to say this: Get the family go sit and play in a lot of TT's, but make sure you get what will make you and your family happy. It will not only save you money down the road but will make your trips that much more fun.

I would get a brand new one with slideout myself. or slideout over non-slide, but my opinion of Rockwood is not high, don't know about starcraft.

One other thing you MIGHT consider is checking out the prices at RV Direct Rockwood 2601SS. Not sure what dollar range you're looking at but price there would be something like 14,500.00 brand new with full 2 year warranty. Good luck / Skip

The slide for sure. We had a 7' wide TT without a slide, and that was a big hassle as the kids got bigger. Even a 8' without a slide would be somewhat better, but a slide can make a huge difference on the inside. I don't think you will ever have too much room, at least I won't with kids.
