Well 50K & 2 1/2 years no problem thenI had 3 GY614 blow up in 30 days & had some body damage on our HH so we stop at Chanute. Talked to a RV holler who had a 100 gal tank about this & he said if you keep it under 100 gal. tank then the DOT will leave you alone, over 100 gal. tank you fall under DOT. Have not checked it out but that is what he said.

Anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a spare tank that goes underneath the bed? My grandpa got one from JC Whitney 15 years ago but they all seem to sell the toolbox combo today.

There are a couple. Titan is one.

From memory there is also a company called "Supertank" or similar that does larger replacement tanks.

Only thing it would affect is the "range" on the current tank...probably have to reprogram and tell it you got a bigger tank.

Yes, but mine only calculates from the truck tank. As I refuel in motion the DTE changes in reverse until the tank is full. I can refill 3 - 4 times before I need to stop to refill both tanks. We usually stop at rest stops for potty breaks, easy off easy on. I have a separate fuel gauge for the aux tank.

I have the RDS 60 gallon toolbox/fuel tank combination that was purchased from Northern Tool. Have the gravity feed kit and it works great. Just always fill the aux tank and never open the factory fuel fill cap. The gravity feed is not illegal since it is a closed system and has check valves built in case of accidental roll over. The law just says you cannot gravity directly to a carburetor. On my Ford I do have to keep the isolation valve closed when I don't need fuel or the on-board computer will throw a check engine code for malfunction of fuel sensor. I just open when I need fuel or can fill when in route. If you leave the valve open all the time and after 3 or 4 tanks it will bring in a code. I have a code eraser so it is no problem. This is the best thing I have ever done to my truck and gives me close to 100 gallons of fuel with extended range. It is nice to travel and not have to worry about the next fuel stop and will I be able to get into it with my large rig. Do a search on this subject and you will find more information than you want to read.
